Welcome to AB Restaurant Supply .
I have been in The Restaurant business since I got out of the Navy in 1973 and opened a Deli in Longmont, Colorado. Longmont was a small Farmers town of 17,000 (80,000 plus now), that was just starting to grow because of the IBM plant that had opened a few years before. The Deli was well received even though it was the first Restaurant of it's kind to open in Longmont. The Grocery stores didn't even have Deli Departments then. It was quite a learning experience for both me and the community.
I sold the Deli a few years later and managed a Commissary for 14 Pizza Delivery stores in Colorado. Then became the Manager of a Shaky's Pizza Parlor for a few years before I opened my second Restaurant, a Delivery Sub Shop called The Sub Factory in 1979.
When I opened my first Restaurant I had some money but no experience. With the second Restaurant I had some experience but very little money, so it took several years for me to show a profit. The second Restaurant became very successful, but I eventually burnt out and ended up selling out in 1991 to an employee who started with me in 1980 as a delivery driver. She still owns it to this day and is doing very well.
I decided to take my retirement while I was still young enough to enjoy it and spent the next 10 years traveling the US and Canada. Then the dot com bust and 9/11 struck and my retirement fund was gone.
I started looking around for something to do when a 12 year old told me that some of my old video games would sell for good money on eBay. So in July 2002 I started selling some of my stuff from around the house. While doing that I got talking to a long time friend who owned the local Restaurant Supply in Longmont about eBay and by the fall of 2002 we were in partnership selling Restaurant Supplies on eBay.
In March of 2003 I opened my eBay store AB Restaurant Supply and began stocking it with items carried at the Local Restaurant Supply. By the fall of 2005 business was going very well, but my Partner and I were experiencing problems keeping items in stock for both the Brick & Motor store and the eBay store. This caused some friction and we decided to go our separate ways.
That's when I started bringing in my own Inventory for the eBay store. This allowed me to bring in a wider variety of items at better prices, which resulted in a nice increase in sales. I now make my Income entirely on-line selling Restaurant Supplies and have opened my own website AB Cooks Corner . I really enjoy selling on-line and plan on doing this for as long as I am able.
