Neon Prophet has been a reggae institution here in
Tucson for the last 22 yrs. and still going strong. The group
plays a unique blend of reggae music ranging from sweet
harmony singing to Dancehall deejaying. Keeping up with
the current trends while remaining true to the roots has kept
their audiances coming back for more, year after year.
Over the years players have come and gone but
the core members of David Dean- Vocals and Bass, Jamie
Cirrito-Bass and Vocals and Plato T Jones-Percussion, have
remained constant. In addition the group presently includes
Tony Falcon-Guitar and vocals, Miss Alma Webb-Keyboards and
Vocals and Chip Ritter-Drums .
Geographically the group represents a broad spectrum. Florida, New York , Chicago, England, Mexico and Tucson respectively. Their range of
musical styles and influences are broad as well. From Roots
Reggae to Dancehall, Hiphop to Latin with a smattering of
Soul, rock and Jazz thrown in for good measure.
The group has opened for just about everybody in
the business. Dennis Brown, Jimmy Cliff, Black Uhuru, Steel
Pulse, Burning Spear, Third World, Maxi Priest, Inner Circle,
Mighty Diamonds, The Itals, Yellowman, Judy Mowatt, and
even Rick James -the list goes on and on. As a back up band
the group has had the privilege of working with Sugar
Minott,The Meditations and Mikey Dread as well as countless
sit-ins by the likes of Joe Higgs, Frankie Paul, Drummie Zeb
from Aswad, Echo Minott , Ras Michael and even Big Daddy
Kane, Greg Allman and Chris Penn.
To date the group has put out two CDs and have
consistently won The Tammies-Best Reggae award. See you
