Reed Lightfoot of Delta 88

About Me

Born and raised with the music of New Orleans. Like the eclectic variety of genres that the city offers, thus describes his music. He often says that he is inspired to write by whatever he hears/sees/tastes/touches/smells… Musical or not… “I suppose that ends up sounding like an amalgamation of my influences, forged into a sound different from the sounds that influence it. At least that's what I hope you get when you hear it.” With influences such as Dave Matthews, Marvin Gaye, Dashboard Confessional, and John Mayer, his songwriting and performing style has been described as “captivating” making his listeners feel like Reed, somehow, wrote a song about “how they felt last night.” That’s the driving force behind Reed’s lyrics. He treats the subjects in his songs like he would anyone he speaks to in person: casually, yet candidly, and to each of those people he sings “to”, one can tell that he truly means what he says… “Every song is a real situation. No matter who it deals with, each song I’m saying something. I think that’s why people feel it hard sometimes. It’s straightforward. I’d have it no other way.” Reed has performed in various venues throughout the Southeast. Concluding some recent travels, Reed returns to New Orleans to the home and musical culture he loves. He continues to perform acoustically and can occasionally be found performing as part of a Four-piece consisting of Ricky Andre, Josh Roques and Ben Tiblier, now known as Delta 88. An album is in production with this ensemble. While the title of his EP has not been released, he has given his fans a preview of what they can expect as excerpts of some live performances will be used in the production. His recording debut is long-awaited and is expected to become a hit due to his soulful style of music, captivating voice, heart-felt lyrics, and laid-back but sincere demeanor.
