I used to have a busy life. My mother would be rushing me to clarinet lessons, dance class, and theater club meetings. Music was my passion in early high school. I would fill the room with the rich chocolate sound of my instrument. The notes came off the page. The years have changed and so has my passion. I'm a painter now. I relax by day and paint by night. Sometimes I see the image of my future paintings in the blank white canvas. The feeling I get from painting is something I can't put into words. In a way the passion I had for music is still there. The brushstrokes became the clarinet notes in my symphony of paint.
My favorite animal is the wicked giraffe. This majestic animal rules my entire life. I even write stories about it. My first story was called "Rita's Lucky Day." It is about a girl who gets a box of instant giraffe pills in the mail. It has a sad ending but good morals. Speaking of animals I have a special one of my own: Zoey, she's one of the loves of my life and has saved me a million times over.
I still live in my hometown, but I can't say I want to live here my entire life. I used to dream of moving to New York City where I believed I could lead a more upbeat life. I visited New York twice in High School. The visits didn't ease my need to live in the city and smell the excitement in the air. Excitement is good although, I'm not sure if I can deal with the anxiety of excitement on an everyday basis.
My senior year of high school I was set on leaving town as soon as I graduated. I was just going to drive around and live off the land. Yes that's a lie but it seems comforting and free right now. I guess I'm just not prepared for that life yet. As you can see I'm not in New York or driving around pitching tents in the dirt. Maybe someday after I get my life together, I won't need to run away from my birthplace to feel free enough to fly.
