ILL TRILL NEIL: "Cold, Intelligent, Undefeated"Neil J. Harris, known in the rap game as "ILL TRILL NEIL", was born on March 30, 1982 in Pensacola, Florida. This multi-talented musical innovator discovered his craft at the young age of 9 years old, and has since been perfecting his skills in rapping, producing, poetry writing and song composition. With his locally known catch phrase of "Spell my name with capital letters!†"ILL TRILL NEIL" [or I.T.N.] is also creating the definition of a ‘word technician’ with his futuristically styled verses and unmatched delivery. His musical influence lies in late, great artists like Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G. and Big Pun. However his highest inspiration stems from the musical background of both of his family. His father, John "Kousi" Harris, was a recording artist in the group Brother's Unlimited for Fame / Capitol Records and songwriter for recording artists signed to Stax Records. While his mother, Matte' was lead singer / songwriter for the group Bomerangs. Both parents had done work with major recording artists from Jimi Hendrix to Al Green. This variety sparked I.T.N.’s interest in classic jazz, rock-n-roll, heavy metal, blues and drum-n-bass.
Hailing from the Northwest part of Florida where stars like Derrick Brooks, Reggie Evans, Emmitt Smith, Roy Jones Jr. and Justin Gatlin also represent, ILL TRILL NEIL is aiming to be mentioned in the same breath. He is heavily showcasing his talent at local talent shows, nightclubs and even fairgrounds around the Southeast region of the United States and soon abroad. In the early 1990’s before creating his current name, ILL TRILL NEIL "was known as "Dred Monster Savage". Under Dred Monster Savage, he laced his first street-banger called "Die Haters". This highly charged fast-paced single, filled with powerful street lyrics, defined ‘ganster rap’ in a time where it was in high demand. However, he has since developed a more self empowering flow, while still managing to deliver a nonconformist sound that the streets can appreciate.
ILL TRILL NEIL's style of flow has been regarded as intelligently unorthodox, revolutionary and is structured to bring back the nostalgic soul power of music. In a recent interview he comments, "A lot of people go off hope alone and no action. Most people are just duplicators, the soul is always genuine when you represent your own soul". While his music invokes the power of knowledge, strength and courage, he is also conveys his significance through charitable labors including Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts. His music has spread into the cities of Pensacola, FL, Atlanta, GA, Memphis, TN, and Houston, TX.
Pensacola's best vet is back on the scene currently working on his debut album. ILL TRILL NEIL is in the preping his singles club and radio promotion.
