With 7 albums, over 13 million CD sales worldwide, 16 top 10 hits including 4 number 1s, 2 solo charity singles and 2 Brit Awards under her belt, it is fair to say that Rachel Stevens has enjoyed much success in the music industry.
Eleven years ago, Rachel was selected by Simon Fuller to join pop sensation, S Club 7 and, when the band split in 2002, she went on to create 2 solo albums receiving critical acclaim from all sides of the globe including inclusion in The Guardian’s “Top 100 Albums You Must Hear†supplement.
She also demonstrated her talent as an actress, appearing in over 110 countries in four S Club TV series which broadcast in the UK and overseas. She starred in BBC and ITV TV movie specials, the cinematic release of Seeing Double and enjoyed a cameo role in Deuce Bigalow and also in Suzie Gold. More recently Rachel was transformed into a nine-inch high plasticine character Patricia Ravelston for the BBC animation, Glendogie Bogey, alongside Peter Capaldi and Alex Norton.
Adored by men and women alike, Rachel has been voted Sexiest British Woman for 4 consecutive years by FHM Magazine and Glamour Magazine crowned her Woman of The Year in 2007.
With such wide appeal and great talent, it is no surprise that she has worked with some of the UK’s biggest commercial brands including becoming the first ever celebrity ambassador for Pretty Polly UK, starring in Marks and Spencer’s sought after Christmas TV commercial alongside stars including Rupert Everett, becoming an ambassador for Virgin Media and helping to raise awareness of the testicular cancer charity, Everyman, by creating the most successful viral campaign ever.
In 2008, Rachel demonstrated another talent – dancing. Performing every week to an audience of millions on BBC1’s flagship show, Strictly Come Dancing, Rachel and her dance partner Vincent Simone wowed audiences with their dancing skills, who, in return voted in droves to earn her a place in the final. Rachel was a natural, breaking 3 Strictly records including the highest ever Tango score and first perfect Foxtrot score.
Joining the cast of the show on the live Arena tour across the UK, based on live audience voting, she was crowned winner in over 50% of the shows winning more than any other contestant.
2009 and beyond looks set to be as varied and exciting as the past decade. Rachel said; “I’m very fortunate to have been given such amazing opportunities. I work hard in an industry that I love. It’s very exciting! there’s so much I still want to do and achieve so I’m looking forward to the next part of the journey.â€
