The Deconsumers

About Me

The Deconsumers' music summarises a lot of what's unique about the east coast of Australia, blending the relaxed sun and surf of northern New South Wales with raw and honest Melbourne pub rock and the introspective eccentricity of Tasmania. We like to weave our politics into our music, but believe in not taking yourself too seriously. The Deconsumers are angry about the state of the world, but see a chance for the future. We want to inspire people to live their lives intelligently and to seek their own answers, rather than blandly accept the illusion of happiness through consumption. Neither carrot nor stick, but a pointer in the right direction and an ear friendly tune to see you on your way.
To Deconsume is :
To go against the flow
To give something back
To create rather than destroy
To start reversing the damage we've done
To regurgitate (In disgust, or with love, like a seabird feeding it's young)
