Frank "Blame" Macek is a GRAMMY NOMINATED producer, engineer, writer, programmer, and one stop shop kinda guy!!!
His latest work with GRAMMY AWARD WINNER "INDIA.ARIE",on her album "TESTIMONY VOL. 1, LIFE & RELATIONSHIP" was nominated for Best R & B ALBUM OF THE YEAR: 2OO7!!! The album which debuted at NO.1 on the Billboard Top 200 and R & B charts, and on which he produced her latest single, Don Henley's song "THE HEART OF THE MATTER" which hit the TOP TEN on SMOOTH JAZZ, and co-wrote & produced "WINGS OF FORGIVENESS" and co-wrote & co-produced "BETTER PEOPLE" has been one of Frank's proudest accomplishments!
Now for how he got there. He started playing drums at the age of 11. At 16, he played in local bands in the Girard/Youngstown, Ohio area, soon moving to bass, and eventually keyboards. At 24, he moved to L.A., Ca. with his younger brother Bill, aka "Wilden" and started school for recording engineering. While in his 1st semester, Frank was informed by Forrest Rowles/A-1 Audio, that there was a studio needing some help. Frank was soon hired by Mike Williamson & Josie Siniscal/Owner to a small but mighty "ECHO SOUND STUDIO'S".
One of Frank's first clients was "Charo"! Soon after that, the studio became very busy with the emerging rap scene! By the time Frank left there, he had worked with pretty much every rapper around, including "ICE CUBE/KILL AT WILL, DEATH CERTIFICATE, PREDATOR, KING TEE/THE TRIFLIN' ALBUM, DJ POOH/DEL THE FUNKY HOMOSAPIEN, YO YO/BLACK PEARL, QUINCY JONES III/THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR/TEVIN CAMPBELL/STRAWBERRY LETTER 23 (REMIX), 2 PAC/STRICTLY FOR MY NIGGAZ!!! Needless to say, he was inspired by the techniques, theories, talent and passion of these great artists & their producers, and use's those experiences to maintain a level of cutting edge production ideas, and professionalism in the studio today.
After six years in L.A., Frank moved to Nashville, Tn. There he started working with Producer, keyboard wiz, Mike Lawler! While at Mikes, he met a young songwriter named TRENT TOMLINSON that he believed in! Soon after their meeting, Frank got Trent singned to his 1st Nashville publishing deal! Lately Trent has gotten his shot at the bigtime with the release of his 1st record on Lryic Street!!! To this day, pretty much everybody Frank has worked with has been through Frank's initial work with Mike, including a one year stint with the incredible piano man/songwriter LEON RUSSELL and engineered and mixed his album "HANK WILSON III" which had special guest appearances by "WILLIE NELSON, MARTY STUART, THE OAK RIDGE BOYS, and T GRAHAM BROWN"!!! One connection led to another and Frank finally opened up his own studio with long time friend, Jimmy "J-Rok" English. Profound Sound Recording Studio was busy all the time and eventually Frank started producing there for such clients as The Nashville Cats, The Areena Football league, local artists and then landing his first album deal for Curb Records/TYLER DEAN!!! Soon after finishing that record,
Frank was working with producer MIKE JONES and Mike introduced Frank to the great country producer Byron Gallimore. Byron ended up using Frank as a drum programmer for "FAITH HILL'S/CRY(4songs), TIM McGRAW'S/TIM McGRAW AND THE DANCEHALL DOCTORS(4songs), JESSICA ANDREWS(2songs) & MARCEL(2songs). Since then, Frank co-wrote & produced a couple of songs for Universal Records/Fiona Simone(rap/hiphop) as well as engineered and mixed most of the project and also co-wrote, co-produced & engineered & mixed 8 tracks on AREENA RECORDS chicago based "SWIZZLE TREE/HERE WE ARE", and just recently for Grammy Award winner "INDIA.ARIE'S/TESTIMONY VOL.1, LIFE & RELATIONSHIP" which was already mentiond above!
Frank is currently looking for the next great artist that has the hunger and determination to do what it takes to make it!!!
