James Douglas Morrison,A.K.A-Jim Morrison,The Lizard King,Mr.Mojo Risin,The Electric Shaman,Dionysus in the flesh,The Young Lion, was born 12/8/1943 to George Steven Morrison(who would later in his navy career become a Rear Admiral) and Clara(Clarke) Morrison in Melbourne,Florida,Jim was born of Scottish and Irish ethnic heritage.Jim was brought up in a setting of:Children should be seen and not heard...Ignore something unpleasant and it will go away...And cleanliness is next to Godliness,this and Jim's rootlessness of being very mobile due to his military upbringing would set the stage for Jim's sense of unconnectedness and future rebellious antics.Jim was the eldest of 3 siblings,a sister named Anne which was 3 yrs. younger than Jim,and a brother named Andy which was 6 yrs. younger.At the age of four Jim would experience what he would call "The most important moment of his life",just outside of Albuquerque while traveling with his parents on a highway from Santa Fe,they came upon an overturned truck and saw injured and dying Pueblo Indians where they had been thrown on the road.Jim sobbing hystericaly as they left the scene,would in later years tell friends that as his father's car left the intersection,an Indian died and his soul passed into Jim's body,which would explain his Shamanistic trance like state while performing on stage years later with The Doors.Jim attended numerous schools due to the mobility of his fathers military career, all the time showing promise as a very intellectually prominent soul.Throughout his years in highschool Jim maintained a 88.32 gpa and his IQ being at 149.Jim would come to devour the writings of Friedrich Nietszche(the poetic German philosopher) whose views on aesthetics,morality,and the Apollonian-Dionysian duality would appear again and again in Jim's conversation,poetry,songs,and life.Jim attended several colleges,St.Petersburg Junior College,FSU,then ending up at UCLA School of Film where he met future keyboardest Ray Manzarek,which in return introduced Jim to drummer John Densmore,and guitarist Robby Krieger,at about this time Jim also met his future wife(through common-law marriage,though they were never legally married)Pamela Susan Courson.Jim came up with the bands name from an Aldous Huxley quote from "The Doors of Perception":There are things known and things unknown and in between are the doors",referring to William Blakes quote:"If the doors of perception were cleansed,evrything would appear to man as it truly is,infinite".They first played as a house band at the London Fog,a small club down from the Whisky a Go Go,until getting booked at the Whisky which they played from mid May-mid July of 1966.They sighned a contract with Elektra Records then for a one year contract,with options for two,or until they delivered six albums.Six albums were all they ever recorded in the studio with "The Doors" being there first album released in Jan.1967,"Strange Days" being there second released in Oct.1967,"Waiting For The Sun" being there third in July.1968,"The Soft Parade" being there fourth in July.1969,"Morrison Hotel" being there fifth in Feb.1970,and there last album was "L.A.Woman" in Apr.1971.Also accredited books by Jim include "The Lords"1969,"The New Creatures"1969,"The Lords & The New Creatures"1970,"An American Prayer"1970.Two films were made by Jim with the help of long time Doors photographer and cinematographer Paul Ferrara which were "Feast of Friends" and "HWY".Within weeks of L.A.Womans release Jim was found dead on 7/3/1971 of an apparent heart attack in a Paris,France bath tub,Jim is buried at the Pe're La Chaise Cemetery in Paris,France.Pamela Courson would become the beneficiary of Jim's will until her death on 4/25/1974 of a heroin overdose in Los Angeles, and took until 1980 for the rights to the estate to be settled and awarded to Pamela's parents Columbus(Corky)and Pearl Marie Courson.Whether Front man for the legendary group
