About Me

Producing Creative and Inspiring Video Projects for Our Community
Georgio Brown, Founder of the Coolout Network
Georgio Brown born in Harlem, New York to a strong proud Jamaican Immigrant father who taught him to work for his dreams and not to give up in the face diversity or defeat. With those teaching as a child, Georgio began creating his art through use of video when he was in high school in New York. His first video work started off by filming groups of teens on the corner who were rapping or dancing. This took off for him as he saw how much people enjoyed and were inspired by the video shorts he created. He also had a brief period as CEO of an independent record label with a friend where he gave service as a tour manager. He was lucky to receive the support of friends and family to follow his dreams from high school onto college.
When Georgio went off to college in 1986 he sought expand his reach in the community by bringing positive Black culture to all people through Coolout Entertainment. He started off throwing Club Coolout events in the Victorian Rose house in Utica, NY.
Inspired by the prosperity his sisters had found in Seattle, WA, he moved there in mid 1990 to find work and work toward his true career goals. Redirected by friends and family to follow his unique creative ability in video production, he attended Seattle Art institute for video production and through the support of the local public access center he created Coolout Network, a NW focused positive urban music culture TV magazine. Coolout Network came from the inspiration he saw in the hard work Seattle rappers (Emcees), DJs and Hip Hop dancers were putting into their art form.
In April 1991 he began producing a series of shorts focusing on Seattle's Hip Hop scene. His blend of visual arts, performance arts and music into the one art medium of video turned into "Coolout Network" and he aired his art to the public on Seattle Public Access, now called SCAN. Many artists (some now of international fame) received their first TV exposure through his series. Now going on 15 years and still airing Coolout Network each week, he continues to create his art the way he sees it and in a way to inspire others to either continue their art form or pick up video arts. You can find samples of his work on video.google.com as well as www.youtube.com. Coolout TV is also live-streamed on www.cooloutnetwork.com each Friday (see website for time).
His talent has been procured by many organizations that see the value in his art as a medium to showcase what they do (just as is often requested from photographers and painters). In the summer of 2004, Georgio Brown and his production "Coolout Network" received the City of Seattle, Mayor's Award for Excellence in Hip Hop for his dedication to create a positive contribution to the community.
Here is an example of one Coolout TV highlights Georgio Brown has produced, in his career he has produced an estimated 768 Coolout TV episodes....
His work has been shown throughout the country by leading organizations such as the Urban League, Festival Sundiata, YWCA, Think Big Foundation, Starbucks and Microsoft. It is often used for community awareness by Non-Profit performance arts programs and arts education programs. Artists themselves often seek out Georgio to capture their art so they can show others what they do.
Since 1991 alone he has created over 600 Coolout Network productions and over 100 individual works for others in our community. He is able to produce his art through hard work and support from his community and the individual people who support his mission.
Still proud of his Harlem/Jamaican influenced upbringing, he takes his New York drive to promote positive Hip Hop culture and boost the uplifting of his ethnicity and heritage.
Georgio Brown is always down to work with artists and others in the urban community who believe in his mission and vision which you can read more about at www.cooloutnetwork.com.
