The Redhill Takeover began in 2004 and is a bi-monthly alternative music night organised by the team at R&J Management held at The Harlequin Theatre in Redhill, Surrey. The venue has a capacity of just over 600 and is popular with under 18s and adults a like, bringing decent alternative bands to receptive audiences.
We don't cater for any one genre, although we do try to match bands on the same bill of a similar genre (ie punk night/metal night/emo). We hire a 30K PA system, have a DJ playing all the best music inbetween bands and hold regular competitions and giveaways. On the night there are usually 5 - 6 bands performing 30 minute sets.
BANDS WHO WANT A SLOT PLEASE READ...
We have put on shows with many high profile bands who have charged a high fee but have lost us a lot of money from poor ticket sales. We have found the best way to organise the night and to ensure a large crowd is to have:
2 x well known/up and coming/high profile signed bands
2 x local bands with a good local following
2 x out of town bands who want the chance to play to a new audience
This means, if you are not from Surrey or the South East then you are battling for one of 12 slots (within the year) and as you can imagine, many many bands contact us wanting to play (around 60 per show!). Now, we're kind hearted music lovers here at The Takeover and like to give unknown bands a chance, but you have to be a talented and original band to stand a chance.
Please do not contact us via myspace as the high volumes of messages we get means that the only thing we really have time for is deleting them. Instead send an email to
[email protected] with 'TAKEOVER SUBMISSION' as well as the genre of your band ie 'TAKEOVER SUBMISSION POP/PUNK or ROCK/METAL' in the subject. All you need to put in the email is your band name, where you are from and your myspace address. We will then take a listen and if we like what we hear, you will hear from us.
