About Me

.. ..

”Roxi Copland of Des Moines has a deep, soulful voice to complement the slew of talented musicians she works with. Decidedly jazz/pop, Roxi’s music is the modern equivalent to the sensual, smoky bar soloist with a Coltrane air.” -’Top Ten Iowa Bands’ - Max Plenke

Performing throughout the Midwest, Roxi entertains with an engaging combination of original tunes and well-known jazz, soul, & blues standards. Though she pretty much refuses to consent to a genre-label, she’s grudgingly allowed us to use the somewhat unwieldy “jazz/pop with a shot of soul.” One particularly eloquent reviewer described her music as “a possibly schizophrenic but absolutely brilliant concoction of jazz, pop and soul.” For more insight into Roxi’s musical stylings, check out her debut EP, ‘Streetwise’, released Deceber 12th 2008. You can hear the tracks by going to the music page or by searching Itunes, Amazon, CD Baby and other online venues.

Roxi can usually be found performing several times a week with her band (featuring Jason Danielson, John Kizilarmut, Dave Altemeier, and Seth Hedquist), her trio, or her solo act. (For a full list of upcoming performances, just look to the right sidebar.) You might also catch Roxi opening for a national act passing through– most recently, Vanessa Carlton, Jason Lindner, and the Manhattan Transfer.
