Amaan Shaheed was born February 12, 1988 and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. At ten years of age he developed a passion for spoken word through rap. Amaan's first rap moniker was "Superman" and he believed that he would be a super hero in the rap game.
Amaan attended The Children's School, Woodward Academy, Fayette County High, Therrell High and Booker T. Washington High School, "Home of the Bulldogs". At Washington High School Amaan's classmates renamed him Montana as he represented his school as a star in the rap industry.
Amaan was a representative of not only Zone 4, Cascade, but also every community that he touched. His first CD was produced at Headline Studios in Smyrna, Georgia, producers of "Holla Magazine". His early talent was cultivated with the assistance of Ty, Marvin and Rod.
As Montana grew as an artist he also worked with DJ Toomp, Stankonia's Courtney Sills, Big Oomp Records and the producer of the street anthem "Easy Street", Orlan aka Landlord. Independently, Montana had a passion and drive that motivated him to produce, manufacture and sell his work. All of this from a 16 year old.
Montana was to graduate from Booker T. Washington High School in May, 2006. Sadly, he was gunned down in the neighborhood that he loved and called home on Memorial Day 2005. An educational scholarship was given to Ms. Felicia Jones in his honor by his family. As a tribute to his passion and dedication to the game, his family is now posthumously releasing all of his recordings. In addition a non-profit foundation is being developed in the Cascade Community, "Mon's House" which will be designed specifically to assist inner city african-american teens with direction towards their future. All proceeds from sales of Montana's music will be distributed directly to "Mon's House".
At Amaan's homegoing, more than 2000 family members and friends came to honor him. It is his parent's desire to complete the dream of their son and assist other young people in developing a positive future. We appreciate your visit to our site and hope you will share this with others.
