About Radio 1's Live Lounge Volume 2
Last year, the Radio 1 Live Lounge album was one of the unexpected hits in the run up to Christmas. The album, which consisted of 40 tracks recorded for Jo Whiley's influential daytime show on the station, sold over 800,000 copies and topped the compilation charts for several weeks. It was no surprise however to fans of the show, as it had long been regarded as one of the highpoints of the programme – when all the very biggest names in music would play stripped down versions of their hits, and sometimes performed inspired cover versions. Get ready for the next instalment, as 'Radio 1's Live Lounge Volume 2' is out on 22nd October 2007.
The album will include the Arctic Monkey's unique take on Amy Winehouse's modern classic 'You Know I'm No Good' and continues with some of the biggest songs from the last 12 months. New stars like Calvin Harris, Robyn and Mark Ronson make an appearance alongside Kasabian and The Fray. The View rattle through their infectious hit 'Same Jeans', 30 Seconds To Mars deliver a majestic reworking of Kanye West's 1 hit 'Stronger' and Biffy Clyro rock up the pop song of the summer, Rihanna's 'Umbrella' . It's a whole mix of genres, but all of the tracks let the quality of the song shine through. As Jo says: "Goosebumps guaranteed!"
