Dirty Nickel

About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4Dirty Nickel has been rockin' in Seattle since 2002! Believe it! We have one album and just finished a four song demo. Dirty Nickel is fronted by Christa Kae. She is a talented and prolific singer/songwriter, rhythm guitarist, and performer with strong, powerful, beautiful vocals and lyrics. A must see for those who enjoy the female fronted band. You will want to get your hooks into Austin Chester when you hear his screamin' leads, tasty slide, complementary rhythms, and delicate nuances. Rod Johnson has been drumming around Seattle for years yet he is never flashy or overbearing. Nick Marcuse is our fantastic harp player and our newest addition is the muti-talented Johnny Ramsdell on bass.

Band Members: Christa Kae - Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar -- Austin Chester - Lead Guitar -- Rod Johnson - Drums -- Johnny Ramsdell - Bass -- Nick Marcuse- Harmonica
Influences: Since there are too many influences, we will use this space to tell you about where the band has come from and where we hope it goes. ------------------It all started in Michael Green's studio. Christa answered an ad looking for a female vocalist. After giving Christa some songs to take home and add lyrics and melody to, Mike was impressed, and asked Christa to start a project. Not too long later Mike asked Austin over to play lead. Magic. Then Mike mentioned a drummer he and Austin knew, Rod Johnson. But we needed a bass player so Mike agreed to play bass. A band was born and it was called Anything But Blue. Mike developed carpell tunnel syndrome from playing so well and had to move on to other projects. That was when Wayne Johnson came into the band. Wayne was a hit on bass and we continued under a new name Dirty Nickel. Wayne brought over his recording equipment, we moved the gear around the room, mic'd it, and set to recording our debut album. We did the whole thing live with only one vocal over dub on Kingdom Hearts. Wayne did an awesome job with the mixing and mastering leaving us with a really decent recording of our tunes. Sadly, Wayne also had to move on to other projects but you can always hear him on the album. You will also notice on the album the songs that Michael Green initially wrote with Christa. We wanted to mention these fabulous former members and recognize thier huge contribution to where we are today! Thanks guys!-----------=MOVING INTO THE FUTURE, we hope to establish ourselves as a great band to see in Seattle. We aspire to open for local and touring acts in larger venues, we want to make another album, get a website going, and generally keep rockin' till we are old and grey or as close as we can get. We are after all Dirty Nickel.
