MUSCLE PUZZLE

Debut CD "MOUTH FISTING" 2007 on SHE HE IT RECORDS.Here's a review from the DWARVES show on New Years Eve by John Petric (the Other Paper) "The, uh, honor of opening the night's festivities went to our own MUSCLE PUZZLE, a four-piece noise outfit featuring two drummers facing each other, one with what looked like up-ended bass drums. It was a ponderous, brooding racket they made, as if the Kyoto Drummers of Japan were doing the soundtrack to King Kong taking a dump. To be fair, the last song of their mercifully short set had everyone in the masked band doing something fairly musically interesting beneath the racket. Prior to that point, it had been pretty much two chords droning over the same dull beat."Here's another review from the AIDS Wolf show by Rick Allen (the Other Paper) Wrapping up the evening was MUSCLE PUZZLE, another collection of scene notables who previously ditched the sounds of their past and other current bands, including Go Evol Shiki! and Church of the Red Museum, in favor of co-frontman Rudy G's more spazzcore proclivities. That was then. The 2008 model-year Muscle Puzzle has more fully embraced the awesome power of Melvins-esque sludge metal riffage. Even Rudy appeared to be down with the change in tone, sharping his scattered howling around the heavy, sloppy grooves of the band. The net effect was like watching a cross between the Jesus Lizard and a mentally disabled James Gang, a comment that is meant wholly as a compliment. Muscle Puzzle teetered on the edge of jumping the tracks more than once, but kept those wheels on the rails and completed it's set without a meltdown.
