Carmecà actually began his involvement in music at the age of twelve. He hated going to his mom’s church but when he did go he would fantasize about playing the drums one day. Finally a music program was initiated there so he signed up to learn to play the drums. The music director told him all of the drum section was full, that he could pick another instrument to learn. Not wanting to play anything else he finally decided that playing saxophone would be a foot in the door to eventually learn to play the drums. The music director came back and told him that all of the sax positions were also filled. He went back home bummed about what had happened and a couple of days later his grandma showed up and told him that she had a gift for him. She asked him to go to the bedroom and get the case that was against the wall. He did, come back with it and she asked him to open it. It was a used trombone she bought at a garage sale for $15 bucks. Carmecà was not thrilled at all, after all it was a goofy instrument to him, and only nerds would play it he thought to himself. His grandma told him that if he was really going to try hard and learn it that she would give it to him as a gift, Carmecà looked at as mom and asked if she was willing to pay for the classes, She agreed and the deal was on. Carmecà began his music career playing an instrument he was embarrassed of but the goal in mind to eventually move into playing the drums. 4 months later he was playing with the local church house band because he picked up the instrument very quickly and 2 months later began to play drums for the church. His strategy worked! After that he began his first band at the age of 14 singing and playing drums. At the age 16 he began to play drums for his first rock band with some friends he made at school. From there on he began to pick up other wind instruments, percussion, and keyboard/piano and began to sing and song write his original music which eventually lead him to begin his solo project at age 19. At 20 He began his first effort on working on his first solo album with a local producer, completed pre-production on 4-5 songs and got stalled in the process because of complications the producer ran into. He went into the studio yet again as the band “CarmecÆin 2005 and recorded a 3 song demo that put the band on the map in his home town of Houston, Texas. The local radio station 94.5 The Buzz immediately began to play the music on a show called ‘Texas Buzz†and the music video for the song ‘You Are†was playing in 3 different local stations. Not being able to get the band into the studio to finish the record, they missed their chance to push an album and began to lose momentum. Band members once again began to quit, some join, then quit.^
In early 2008 he decided to pursue his dream in music as a solo artist adopting his name of “CarmecÃâ€. He began pre production in late 2008 and called up some friends he had worked with in the past, some he had song wrote with, and music production began with Victor Rivera, Ramon “Moncho†Canizales, and Mark Townsend. The long anticipated album was finally completed and set release date has been made for March 3rd of 2010.
