"K.Y. and the Jellyfish? I fucking love those guys!" Says Axl Rose of Guns and Roses. "They're by far the most talented musicians I've ever met. It's only a matter of time before they become a household name."
But it hasn't always been easy for K.Y. and the Jellyfish. Lead-Singer, Vag McNiff, has seen darkest corners of the music industry. Vag went in and out of rehab between 1992 and 1993 following the band's first tour with rock icon Nirvana. "It was rough" says Vag, "I was going through really bitter divorce with Carmen Electra. My dad passed away and I started shooting heroin up my ass. I guess it gave me a temporary way out. But I think it's those kinds of trials that make a band stronger."
Acompanying McNiff are Robin Broads on the guitar and mandolin and Marcus Brown on backup vocals.
"Before we wrote 'Brown Eye Ballad' we knew we had to write a song that had the power to change the world. I sat down with Vag and Robin and it turned out we were all on the same page. We penned the ballad together and ever since it's been nothing but success. People come up to me and thank me... Sometimes it brings tears to my eyes to know that I've written a song that has made people feel in such a cold numb world."
Keep your eyes open for K.Y. and the Jellyfish' forthcoming record with Capitol Records entitled "The Month After I Screwed Your Mother".
