Who is BumbleBee? BumbleBee is one of Philadelphia's up and coming performers of spoken word and writers of poetry. She was born in Virginia and raised in North Philly. After realizing her talent for the written word as a teenager she began to explore some of her poetic icons, Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou and Shakespeare. After exploring she began to develop her art form, mostly poetry thru journaling. Concerned with the state of humanity and her people, her poems often explore the human condition, love of self and relationships. She attended Temple University majoring in Communications. She is hailed as her families Poet Laureate; often found documenting their history thru spoken word. She is currently gathering material for a chapbook based on her family. She was a finalist from the spoken word series "A Night of Black Passion". She has performed at several venues, October Gallery's Annual Art Expo, Panoramic Poetry, The Ella Baker Tribute (Gloria's Cafe), Dowling's Palace, The Nile, Najee's Loft and The Sanctuary Academy of Universal Enlightenment in Harrisburg. She is presently working on recording her self-titled CD, BumbleBee:"Pollinating Your Ears". Future aspirations are to perform around the country and abroad with other poets, jazz, hip-hop, and R&B artists, as well as, publishing books of poetry.
