Me...
My name is Ken Slater, I'm 23 years old from Derby, UK!
I've been into dance music since i was about 15 and never looked back since. i started to buy trance records in 1998 and decided that i wanted to learn how to dj, a kind of natural progression. I learnt the basics and in 2000 i got myself a pair of 1210's and started to play for real!
By then hard house was my style of choice and i was banging out tape's and cd's every month to my friends.
In 2001 I got my first set in a club at the tender age of 17, Sunday Service was the club and a residencsy soon followed!
Recently i've been looking for a new sound and finally found it in the form of the Electro/Dirty house scene and have moved in that direction, who knows where i'll go from here.......
Production...
Recently I've been trying to get my foot in the door on the production side of things! I have done this through the help of some of my friends in the know!
The first track I made was 'End Of The World' which was expertly engineered by Tidy Trax star Paul 'Maddog' Maddox! This was my first taste of production work, there's a lot to learn! This track was done in 2002 and got some good feed back off the dj's i gave it to but i never pushed it enough to get it signed to a label! :(
For my next offering I went in with my good friend Rob Dalby! We would be doing two tracks for his own record label 'Boshed Recordings'. What we came away with were two hard trancers 'About Love & Between The Lines' engineered my the excellently tallented Jamie Taylor! We got great support with these track from Dave Pearce who charted 'About Love' at Number 5 in his chart and played 'Between The Lines' on his Dance Anthems show on Radio 1 in December 2005!
The next track i did i was called 'Katarax' and was a bit more of a hard house type track! Helping me out with this one is another good friend, rising tallent Adz! This will hopefully be released on a 'Boshed Recordings' sub-label - 'Boshed Hard'! Hopefully I will be doing more tunes with him in the near future!
