Film that makes you think; film that transports; film that teaches; film that challenges; film that engages; film that makes me feel
2046, capote, riding giants, me and you and everyone we know, walk the line, hotel rwanda, city of lost children, dogville, harold and kumar go to white castle, mulholland drive, el mariachi, charlotte sometimes, high fidelity, west side story, fish called wanda, baraka, spinal tap, say anything, ghost world, donnie darko, red rock west, rushmore, fargo, the grifters, hedwig and the angry inch, ghost dog, raise the red lantern and any zhang yimou, kurosawa, satyajit ray. Many many great films seen at film festivals everywherenot much of anything but lost when it's on, so i basically never watch tv. unless you count downloading extras and entourage. and deadwood when it was on. no cable tv for this pup.
currently reading: blink - malcolm gladwell. one river - wade davis. hip: the history - john leland.
last books read: his dark materials series - philip pullman. books one and two are great, it lost steam towards the end but still a great fantasy series.
everybody into the pool - beth lisick.
norwegian wood - murakami. i really liked this. though i think love and longing are topics dear to my heart, so i may be pre-conditioned to like this.
the namesake - jhumpa lahiri. a subtly told family history. i enjoyed it, though i liked interpreter of maladies much more. interested to see how kal penn plays gogol.
life of pi - martell. ehh, didn't really get all the hype about this.
the wind up bird chronicles - murakami.
books i have been reading for two years and will finish sometime hopefully: the power of myth, nothing zen, alice in wonderland, mcsweeney's graphic art edition, autobiography of anna may wong, songbook by nick hornby
everyone and no one. i think there is something to be gained and learned from everyone i've met, read, heard, observed and interacted with. that being said, i have a feeling i'm on a road that no one has traveled before. then again, is anyone ever on the same road as anyone else? hmm... and i thought i was unique.
