Stay thirsty, my friends.

About Me

I'm a mom/wife/hellraiser/MILF. I've been married to my soul mate, Kirk, for 8 years and I am mom, or actually "MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!", to 4 year old Lily. I've lived in DFW all my life. I'm now in East Fort Worth. I like old houses, so we bought one in 2004 in a funky little neighborhood full of funky people.
I've been studying to become a midwife since July of 2003 and have found it to be an exercise in futility, given the ultra-conservativism of the local midwifery community. It's recently become apparent that I have been on the wrong path, so here I sit, smack in the middle of my Saturn return, trying to figure out what I really want to be when I grow up. Unfortunately, there's not a big call for pirates these days.
I'm not nearly as cool as I used to be, but I'm trying hard! It's hard when you spend all day with a small child. I may be a mom, but I'm most definitely not a soccer mom. I don't wear twinsets and loathe SUV's. I've got a couple of tattoos and my nose is pierced. I do like to cook and knit and entertain and do all the little Suzy Homemaker things. I enjoy politics and love a good debate.
In an effort to maintain my sanity (ha!), I still try to go out and do all (ok, some) of the things we used to do before we had a child. We like to go to shows and have a few beers with friends. We also love to travel and get away from home any chance we get.
One more thing, my first baby died. Trinity Morrigan was stillborn at 8 months on July 21, 2001. I had to have her in the hospital. It sucked and everything about that ordeal made me who I am today. It completely changed my life. So yeah. That's me.

Music:

I like all kinds of music. I'll listen to pretty much anything (except that Toby Keith, redneck, rah-rah, go-USA country shit). My playlist right now is pretty diverse. I've got everything from Van Morrison and Bob Marley to Willie Nelson and the Bellamy Brothers to Eminem and Panjabi MC to Kanye West and the Burden Brothers. My all-time favorite is Barenaked Ladies. I have seen them every single time they have been in DFW since '98.

. . .will I bend over backwards to help someone out.  Every fucking time I have done this I get shat on.  At least this makes it 1000000000000000000% easier to ask for my shit back.

Why yes, as a matter of fact *I* did go to church today. . .

Don't get your panties in a bunch.  It was a UU church and it was pretty cool.  I haven't darkened the door of a church in about 10 years, aside from weddings and funerals.  I really en...
