If you ever can look into the eyes of a woman dressed in blue,
It will make you wonder why she protects me and you.She suffers from lack of sleep, the red eyes will tell,
Even missing a meal or two to keep us all well.Years of tears sometimes built up inside,
From what she has seen, but thinks she hides.Look a little deeper in her eyes and you could even see,
How she felt all the years she has protected you and me.For all the times people have been rude to her,
For pulling them over, while out with their friends. For the little girl or boy she saved from a burning car,
While others just watched her from afar. Not to mention, the bank robber she caught last week,
People never talk to her unless its her help they seek. For the drugs she has confiscated over time,
The people, she has saved comes to her mind. The times she wonders at the end of the day,
Is it worth all this pain, for such little pay? But, dont look unless you are willing to see,
She is a human being just like you and me.She wears her uniform, gun and a badge on her chest,
Doesnt make her perfect just a grade above the rest. For if you look real hard you will also see,
A Woman who you respect is who she longs to be."

As I get ready for work each day You watch quietly, and to god You silently pray You know I must go, because duty calls I have to keep the peace and enforce the laws. But each time that we kiss goodbye It's sometimes hard for you not to cry As you watch me walk out the door your heart usually falls to the floor For you always know it may have been your last chance For one more kiss or one last glance You know you have to always be strong But you can't help but worry while I'm gone Each night as you lay in bed alone You pray for the Lord to bring me safely home You toss and turn for hours, but you eventually fall asleep And your thankful when I awake you with a kiss on the cheek You know what this job means to me And You also know what stress can do So you want me to know just what I mean to you And you hope you can always be the husband I need you to be.
