First and foremost-music. Beyond that I'd say my biggest addiction is good conversation, the company of friends and family, documentaries, cooking, reading, writing poetry, singing, boozing, and last but most of all, Kristin.
The easy answer to this is always famous people, so we'll start there. I suppose I'd hafta say Philip Anselmo cuz he's my favorite frontman ever. I'd like to meet Axl Rose just so I could shake his hand and thank him for pretty much turning me into what I am now. Any of the members of Type O Negative cuz they all crack me up (and getting to shake Johnny Kelly's hand doesn't count). Natalie Maines from the Dixie Chicks so I could tell her how much ass she kicks for wearing a FUTK (Fuck You Toby Keith) shirt on TV. As for those no longer with us...Phil Lynot from Thin Lizzy, Jim Morrison so I could try to keep up with him on a night of drinking, and my grandfather Ray cuz I never got to meet him but he was alive when I was born so he got to meet me...sort of. As for any others...two or three other desperate rock n' roll refuges to join me in the downward spiral...And my friend Janis who I only got to hang out with in person once and I was so drunk I barely remember it. Drag.
This is a list that will constantly be updated, so we'll start off by saying nearly ALL 70s music. Beyond that, the band list is as follows...Bad Company, Black Sabbath, Down (my all time favorite album is Down II), Pantera, Superjoint Ritual, Black Label Society and all Zakk Wylde related projects, Guns N' Roses, KISS, Angel, COC, Johnny Cash, Van Halen, Van Hagar, David Lee Roth, L7, Fireball Ministry, Allman Brothers, ZZ Top, The STONES, Deep Purple (Gillian and Coverdale), Rainbow (Dio), Sammy Hagar, Cinderella, Poison, Faster Pussycat, Britny Fox, Black Oak Arkansas, Heart (70s era) Sex Pistols, Pennywise, The Offspring, David Allan Coe, Type O Negative, Aerosmith (70s era), Zeppelin, Maiden, Priest, Naked Beggars, Jackyl, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alice In Chains, Mad Season, Ratt, Motley Crue, ELP, Styx (Equinox, Crystal Ball, and The Grand Illusion), Rush, Michael McDonald, Thin Lizzy, Fleetwood Mac, and many more to be added later...
Walk The Line, The Big Lebowski, Boogie Nights, all Kevin Smith movies (Clerks being my favorite), What About Bob, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Tombstone, all the Pantera, Type O Negative, and Black Label home videos, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, The Shining, Nights of Cabiria, La Dolce Vida, Office Space, and definitely Overboard (c'mon Annie, ya gotta know, you were in the NAVY!!)...
The Simpsons, My Name is Earl, Futurama, Seinfeld, Red Dwarf, Behind The Music and other MUSIC related documentaries...fuck, just documentaries in general...
Biographies (primarily music and serial killer related), books by Jizzy Pearl (I've Got More Crickets Than Friends, etc.), many others I can't think of at the moment
I've never found that a person in and of themself can be a hero, but there are certain people out there who's actions and attitudes have greatly inspired me, even when other things about 'em disgust me at times....my Dad for being the first to spark my interests in music, my Mother for being the strongest woman I'll ever know and who taught me respect for all women, my lady Kristin for always thinking of new things to do and different places to go...and then doing these things with no hesitation whatsoever, Philip Anselmo for showing me what a bad-ass really is in every sense of the term, Jim Morrison for adding poetic beauty to decadence, my uncle Bob for always being ready to discuss music with an annoying 14-15 year old (that'd be me) and for teaching me the only two guitar chords I still remember, and anyone else out there who has inspired me in some form
