Born in Bayamon Puerto Rico, July 4, 1974, Angel Irlanda initiated his artistic life in the early ages, introducing in his artwork self taught learning and ideological knowledge from the classic-contemporary art as in the modern science. Irlanda establishes a sub-physical hypersubrealism as a vocabulary reflecting a universe in which matter, charge, electromagnetism and other fields were just manifestations of an empty curved space. His paintings and sculptures weren’t developed under stereotyped ideograms of the called Latin-American art and breaks free from the chromatic primitivism of the Caribbean art in his work. We can notice in his work a meticulous research of the simplicity of the unconscious making an analogy with the universe we are living. When the artwork is touched by any written language itself generates deformation to every adjective. Stunning atmosphere is created when the artist manipulates time and space proportions formulating apparent contradictions and deep meditation.Irlanda utilizes different kinds of art movements to manage his own statement, using sub- realism like a royal way to the unconscious or cubism in the compression of time as any other visual description to demonstrate multiple dimensions simultaneously permitting the visual field travel in space and time without any difficulty, communicating non-verbal information before understanding. Speed of light as a relative reference of human present state of mind, chromatic order of lecture from the eye to mind, dematerialization, materialization, levitation, etc. are only some of the themes analyzed by this artist that having no formal training in art had less to unlearn and more than a universe to create.
