Team Metal was founded in 1999 by bored metal enthusiasts Des Walker and Anthony 'Redrum' Magarey. With a love of all things metal and cheese they decided to form a band with just one aim in mind....to have something to pass the time on weekends.
Des, having a rough knowledge of the instrument known as a guitar, decided against singing and focused his efforts to allegedly play the aforementioned instrument. He then recruited and enslaved a Sony Playstation to provide the duo with the ability to keep in time by programming it with various drum beats.
Anthony on the other hand opted to become the vocalist, based on the fact that he truly has a ghastly grip of the Queens English. He also owned a microphone, which turned out to be quite convenient given his choice at the time.
Armed with nothing more than these things, and their own disturbed fixation with tongue in cheek humour, they agreed to team up to spur the cesspool of a world that phlegmed them from its gut....and/or to create some music.
With their no holds barred stripped back approach, and in an act of defiance, they refused to incorporate a bass player opting instead to make a name (often slandered) for themselves.
Working from a backlog of lyrics and vague musical ideas, the two quickly penned some rather infantilistically titled songs along with a surprisingly enjoyable style of music. After having played several shows, the group attracted quite a following of mental defectives, slavering fools and genuine fans, much to their own amusement.
In 2003 they released their much anticipated 12 track self titled demo, giving people the power to not listen to them whenever they felt like it.
Currently the two of them continue to play the occasional show and there are discussions about releasing an album definitely sometime in the far near future perhaps.
