Field goals are the second-best thing you can get. The first thing you want are touchdowns, but you don't turn your back on field goals, because they are points.
Such is the kind of wisdom that seperates the good from the great, the winners from the losers, the Bo and Lukes from the Coy and Vances -- and has provided the inspiration for The Dennis Green Experience.
Off the field, Dennis Green (the former head coach of the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals) is known as a musician, sometimes performing with his own group, The Sunset Music Band. But The Dennis Green Experience -- abbreviated as DGX or DGE -- is not officially linked to Green himself at all.
It is a one-man project that was birthed in 2003 after witnessing the continual deteriation of the Vikings at Green's hands and the ingestion of a 12-pack of Heineken.
The music could loosely be described as electronic, with liberal use of samples and beats, though some real instrumentation is used as well. Many of the tunes center on "Green-isms" -- most notably Green's 2006 meltdown after the Cardinals loss to the Chicago Bears. The songs also make heavy use of clips of sports cliches and various movies.
