About Me

Greetings & welcome to the one & only Woody's myspace!!!! I'm Steve "Woody" Woodham and a 23+ yr veteran of the rock/metal, jazz fusion industry in some capacity or another....mgmt, promotion, festivals, comps, legwork for zines, etc....and I've been fortunate to work and become friends with some of the most talented bands and musicians on the planet. In fact, I started Infinite Music Group back a few years ago so that I could concentrate on the music scene with bands/musicians who otherwise would not have the necessary help to get them over the edge. I was born in Heidelberg, Germany(yep, military brat)and I moved to the states when I was 2 years old. I grew up an athlete, 18 yrs baseball, 12 yrs football and 10 yrs basketball and I should have had a nice little career in baseball before tendonitus in the shoulder kicked in, something pitchers can live without...haha(but I can still hold my own throwing a football!!!). I ended up turning on all of my passion for sports and redirecting strictly to music!!! I've made the Southeast U.S. my home for most of my life. In fact, I've lived in L.A. since 1968, that's Lower Alabama to those who do not know this. So, you can see that country boys can still be "headbangers"...haha. I remember the first album that inspired me enough to send me down the rock/metal pathway. I was 6 yrs old at the time and my older brother(who is a killer drummer himself) was jamming on Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" album. I could not get the song "Iron Man" out of my head and caught myself singing it in my first grade class, although it must have been amusing for those that were listening to me. I started buying my own cassettes in late 70's/early 80's and I was hooked on Maiden, Priest, Queensryche, Dio w/Sabbath, Rush, Fates Warning, etc.....I eventually got into the progressive/jazz/fusion thing a little later, and after yrs of most local friends and family members telling me that I would grow out of it I realized that I was hooked for life. My Interests

Music, Music and more Music. Sports, especially NCAA Football(anything to do with The University of Alabama). I still enjoy some Baseball but since the strikes in 1981 and 1994 I have kind of lost a little interest. I also watch the NFL(National Fixed League) ocassionally. I love Art, Fox News and spending quality time with family and friends....fishing. Did I mention Music???

I'd like to meet:

I can't think of many individuals that I would be overly excited to meet, maybe friends that I've corresponded with over the yrs that I haven't crossed path's with). I've met my fair shair due to sports and music over the past 25 yrs. I can think of several that have passed on who I would have loved to have met and had a conversation with: Lou Gehrig, Paul "Bear" Bryant, Ronald Reagan, John Wayne, Gary Cooper, Audie Murphy, My Grandparents, too many biblical figures to name just one, etc......

Music:

Anything with a good rhythm, good musicianship and is well written. I prefer Progressive Rock/Metal but I'm also very open minded. Anything with vocals must have killer vocals, they can make or break a talented band. Some of my alltime favs include: Maiden, Dio, Priest, Rush, early Queensryche, Dream Theater(Majesty), Symphony X, Crimson Glory, Heir Apparent, Lethal, Kamelot, Fates Warning. Musicians include:Shawn Lane(the best) Malmsteen, Vinnie Moore, McAlpine, Tafolla, Impelliterri, Holdsworth, Garsed, Gambale, Scott Henderson and many, many more.

Movies:

Action/Adventure. The Shawshank Redemption, Lethal Weapon(all of them), Rock Star, Cool Hand Luke, The Outlaw Josey Whales(all time fav), Gladiator, King Authur, Braveheart, Troy, The Ten Commandments, Field of Dreams, The Natural, Eight men out, Forrest Gump(just kidding!).

Television:

ESPN, A&E, Discovery, Court TV(especially Forensic Files), Cold Case Files, City Confidential, Hannity & Colmes, Bill O'Reilly, Frasier, Cheers, Andy Griffith, Leave it to Beaver, Sanford & Son, etc......I use to enjoy MTV's Headbangers Ball until they ruined it several yrs back.

Books:

The Bible, 12 Ordinary Men, John Grisham, William Faulkner, Game of Shadows, The Sporting News, ESPN the Magazine, Musicians Friend(even though these are 'zines). I'm not nearly the reader that I once was.

Heroes:

My Dad, and anyone else that has served this country in any capacity in War time efforts so that we have the freedom that we have today. My Mom for raising 6 children while my dad was serving his country.....and who says that this isn't a full time job???
