About Me
02/06/09 This year starts off slow. Austin moves home, Ernie moves to AL, Tori gets married, Rhett needs surgery, corporate won't look out for me, my mail box is full of letters from "Bill", and I'm just trying to catch up. I don't guess I'm all that different from everyone else. Tryin' not to rock the boat for the rest of the crew.
9/19/08 Had friends in town, to watch 7th grade volleyball and go out for fast food afterwards. It was all good. I guess that the new things in my life are still the old things. Friends, food, kids, sports, . . .Everything changes, while to most folks it seems to be the same. I'm good with that. . . 5/31/08 Watched my son go out in a tux tonight. He's never done that before. But then again, he's never been 18 years old. It's amazing how life is happening to me these days. All of the things that I measure my life against age without consideration for my needs to be in the "now". Last night I saw my little brother look so much like my dad, I had to cry. Thoughts turn to what is happening inside, and yet, I don't know how to speak that language most days. "Head full of this kaleidescope of brain freight, heart full of something simple and slow," as Mark Heard would say.
7/27/07 I am me. . .You are you. . So how can you ever bridge that distance. Takes time and effort. On your part and mine. I am often reluctant to exert that amount of energy. Things are manageable these days. Not great, but manageable. Should I make the effort to change? Probably. Some days I'm open to the possibilities. Other days, I just want to go home and relax. So what can I do to start something new? Working with Ernie to rebuild his family construction business. Investing in a "flip house". Trying to jog. Working to finish turning my garage into an extra bedroom. Taking a conversational Spanish class. Changing the amount of time I put in at work. Got other plans, but I should probably wait until they are something I can talk about. In the meantime, I'll set my alarm clock and get ready for just another day. . . . .2/28/07 (When I heard that Larry Norman had finally breathed his last, and was moved to write this. . . .) Spent some time tonight looking at LN videos on Youtube. He was such a force. I saw him perform many times, and each night was an event. He was such a profound influence on me, musically, and spiritually. I'll be humming his tunes in my head for the next few days. I've played "Goodbye, Farewell" for hours on end. But songs like this one, represent his upbeat side that we all loved so much. Goodbye my friend, Goodbye.Look at all of the different versions of his music in this video. . . He was such a prolific artist. Even after the accident that caused him to lose memory. The tune is from "Something New Under The Sun". . . ."I don't really have a verse to go here, so I'll just let the band play. . . ."
