To this day, people still wonder about how many are in The BP Army, and who exactly. BP has established an enviable reputation through frequent releases and performances, yet questions still remain about its membership. The 5-member Kingston Hip Hop collective is known for appearing with one or two members absent:- a dynamic that has allowed the group to spread its wings throughout its hometown and American states, Ohio, New York and Florida.
BP consists of Five Steez, Nomad Carlos, Shermon Dadz, Simo-B and Sosa. The crew began in 2003 amongst high school friends that shared a similar love for Hip Hop music.
In March 2008, Five Star released ‘ My Xpreshun ’, a project freely available online and in the streets. Currently, Shermon’s single ‘Baby Baby’, on the D.O.D produced 'Symphony Riddim', is riding the airwaves locally and in Europe, while he completes his 'Life of a Dadz' mixtape and album. Nomad’s ‘Fuel to the Fire’ is scheduled for a February release date while Sosa’s debut, ‘Date with Destiny’, is slated for mid 2009. Simo-B, who released a number of projects in 2007, including his debut album, ‘Spoken Word’, is currently working on his follow-up entitled ‘Seeing Green’ and a joint album with Nomad entitled 'Flyest in the City'.
In the meantime, BP is returning to its roots – releasing mixtapes. The crew has released its City Lights mixtape in November, the first since ‘The Main Ingredient’ in 2006. With many things in the pipeline, you will be hearing and seeing BP more often. The crew is determined to build the local Hip Hop scene and put Kingston on the map.
