Rickey L. Gillispie, Jr. A 28 year old native of Washington DC, Rickey Gillispie Jr. is an astounding musician, songwriter and producer. At age eight, Rickeys fascination with music ignited his desire to become a musician; more specifically, a drummer. Having never owned a drum set or received formal training, Rickey began playing at his home church, using that drum set to practice and develop his craft. After mastering the drums, at age 17, Rickey found interest in other instruments such as; piano by inspiration from his high school choir director and bass guitar by inspiration from his father and uncle. Although he desired to, Rickey was never formally trained on either of these instruments. Yet, his passion for music kept his interest in practicing to perfect his skills. Shortly after graduating from High School, Rickey ventured on to college attending Morgan State University, majoring in music-non performance-vocal. He sang with and played drums and bass guitar for the Morgan State University choir under the directorship of the late Dr. Nathan Carter. While a member of the Morgan State University Choir, Rickey played with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, and Delaware Orchestra. He also played for classical artist Mrs. Janice Chandler-Eteme. And has toured extensively across the United States and Canada. Currently, Rickey is the bass guitarist at The Sanctuary and Kingdom Square located in Capitol Heights, MD. He has played for and produced music for various local artists within the DC metropolitan area such as: Crystal Rose recording artist, Ernest Pugh, Anthony Brown and Answered prayers, Jessica Green, John Hart, Charles Butler and Trinity, R.E.A.L., Grace, Nicole Lawrence and Jarmel Evans. In addition to his local accomplishments, Rickey played apart of the house band for the Gospel Heritage Conference at Reid Temple in Greenbelt, MD in February of 2006 and 2007 at the DC Convention center as the bass guitarist. Also, he has played for many prominent gospel artists and producers such as, Donnie McClurkin, Micah Stampley, Israel Houghton, Myrna Summers, Maurette Brown-Clark, Kim Burrell, Rhema Worship and Praise, Karen Clark-Sheard, Tramaine Hawkins, Alex Asaph Ward,Dwayne Woods, and Richard Smallwood
