Errol Sack is truly a master of many talents who, depending on his audience, can be a stunt man, sprint car driver, actor, special effects artist, pyrotechnics wizard or magician. Place him in front of a big water truck, car, helicopter, tank, motorcycle, boat or bike and he can take it apart, put it back together, crash it or blow it up and walk away. ...continued from home page here... One of Errol Sack's incredible explosions How did Sack get involved in this crazy competitive business? “My father, George E. Sack, Jr., had a big impact on my life. He has been doing truck stunts in feature films and television since the late 60’s. He owns a huge truck yard and a truck dealership. Ever since I could reach the pedals of a truck I was driving them. I have been around trucks all my life so I have also learned how to repair them and operate them safely.” A MAN WITH SO MANY TALENTS: Errol Sack the Stunt Driver developed naturally simply by imitating his father and enjoying every minute of it. Currently he races his Sprint Car at Irwindale Speedway and Ventura Raceway. Errol Sack the Actor made his debut at eight years old in the movie Hang Fire. He recalls, “My hungry mind zeroed in on a pile of army uniforms and I quickly scooted into one, then slipped onto the set between the uniforms and no one knew I fit right in. And now, 23-years later, I know my lifetime calling is to go to extremes to entertain an audience.” Errol Sack the Pyrotechnician creates realistic visuals for the camera, safely exploding an automobile or simulating sparking downed power lines. Errol Sack the Magician has been fascinated with magic and illusion since he was a child. “It was entertaining, fun and exciting,” he says, “and I couldn’t get enough of it. I am a long time member of the Magic Castle.” Sack doesn’t let his ego get in the way. He makes it a point to pay attention, listen and learn from people around him, whether it’s a director, business associate, fellow magician or actor. Speaking of actors, two in particular made a lasting impression on Errol. “I worked with George Clooney during the filming of Dusk Till Dawn. He is a very social person who blends in well with everyone and is just a really nice guy. I was a stunt driver in the feature film Mission Impossible 3 and I had a conversation with Tom Cruise. He looked me in the eye and was very open to listen to what I was saying to him. Sometimes the media portrays a more self involved picture of him, but I found him to be very genuine.” Experiences like these keep Errol’s appetite for this industry endless. “Anything is possible with imagination.” Has he ever had a funny experience in this business that he has not told anyone about? Of course he has: one night at the Irwindale Racetrack he was racing his Sprint Car when it broke down. How would this professional actor handle it? Well, he jumped out of his car and started a fight with another driver and kept it going around the track. The crowd was so entertained by the fight that they forgot about the race. Errol Sack's Water Truck His most embarrassing moment? Sack accidentally soaked a Director on the set with his water truck. His strangest experience on a movie set? Sack ran over Jim Carrey with a truck in Bruce Almighty. Yes, it was in the script! A few years ago Sack opened a new chapter in his life while on a movie set in Long Beach, California, when he met John Christ, who he describes as “a Screaming Mad Guitarman.” John Christ toured the world with Glen Danzig and his gothic-style hard rock band. After eight years, five albums and many tours, including one with heavy-metal gods Metallica, the members of the band began to experience some friction, as often happens when band mates spend huge amounts of time together. So John said his good-byes to the band and started writing articles for music magazines, interviewing some of the biggest names in hard rock music like Ozzy Osbourne and Ted Nugent. John Christ John then went on to record a few solo records and spent time as house guitarist for the ..1 rated Australian TV variety show, Hey Hey It’s Saturday. In this gig he backed up such legends as Tom Jones and Lou Rawls. Recently he started his own label and produced his latest album, Flesh Caffeine. The passion for music is still in his heart, but after connecting with Errol Sack he has opened up to new exciting ways to entertain an audience. These two ambitious guys came from different worlds, but they were intrigued by each others talents and made a deal: Errol would teach John to drive a truck and John would teach Errol to play a guitar. They bonded, became friends and quickly agreed to enter a business venture together. Sacks and Christ have acquired an Aqua Dulce, CA, business called Hollywood Fires from Sack’s brother. Hollywood Fires provides picture vehicles, specialty stunts (including racecars, big truck stunts, jackknifes, truck and car crashes) precision trucks and car drivers as well as complete vehicle fabrication to production sets for television and movies. You can get a visual glance at the products they offer and a long list of industry credits on their website www.hollywoodfires.com. Errol Sack and John Christ Sack and Christ were inspired to custom design a big truck that would turn heads. They got the idea from John’s custom motorcycle built by Jesse James, owner of West Coast Choppers in Long Beach, California (who has recently become famous for his popular cable television show, Monster Garage, on the Discovery Channel). And they continue to design groovy trucks. Sack admits, “I am always in a hurry and want to rush everything I do. Learning to play the guitar from John has taught me patience. The outcome is rewarding.” Have you heard of the legendary Errol Flynn? He was the first great movie action hero who emerged with talking films. Errol Flynn was NOT a dull fellow and neither is his namesake, Errol Sack. Maybe George E. Sack, Jr. knew where his son was headed when he decided to name him after Errol Flynn. Now that he has come this far, where is Errol Sack headed in the future? “I am going to continue to progress by moving forward doing what I do best and developing new projects. I’m presently working on producing a ‘Magic Film’ that will be released by this time next year.” Check out the website at www.errolsack.com.
