Cloverfield was pretty damned good, but I suggest you watch it about 3 times - by then, you get a better sense of what's really happening. Also, the Mist was definitely worth the money. I've never been let down by King, and still haven't.

Television:

South Park, Family Guy, lots of stuff on the History Channel - and of course NFL!!

Books:

Anything to do with spirituality - especially Eastern. Recently found the "forbidden gospels" - ask me for a copy - interesting stuff.
