About Me

Just hit the street in Berlin... looking to kick up some new dirt. The Charles Sammons Explorer is the personal project where anything goes. In past incarnations we have explored alternative musical materials, hosted jam sessions and workshops, and generally attempted to defy the status quo as far as the discussion concerning music goes. This is new music in its purist form.
I perform solo with my double bass, cello, guitar, and whatever else I find lying around before a gig. Focusing on carpets of sound, I employ various rhythmic devices, effects, and a loopstation to create ever growing compositions. This medium is always interesting in intimate settings such as cafes, art openings and, theater.
The latest thing is the Charles Mingus project. We have put together an all-star band in central Thueringen to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Mingus' death in 1979. To begin we will be performing in Thueringen in cooperation with the "Jazz Meile", where the best in jazz is highlighted in a two month long festival. This is a must see as these genius compositions are all too rarely performed.
As always I wish everybody peace, love and posilivity.
