X-ell consists of 3 brothers - Steve, Chris & Lewis McElroy. The band have been playing together since June 1996, starting out in small pubs and clubs in North Wales. Since then they have fired up hundreds of venues - from clubs to theatres to festivals all over the UK and Ireland.
In 2000, the band created a five-piece outfit named Trans-Amp , with Gary Pennington (drums) and Oli Powell (bass) joining the McElroy brothers. Trans-Amp play a deadly concoction of rock, hip hop, pop and punk, and gigs have enough energy to fuel small countries! A couple of years later, Frail UK , emerged as another side-project, with Chris, Lewis, Steve & Oli combining to play cool, melodic, indie style songs.
Due to the massive amount of experience the band has, X-ell / Trans-Amp / Frail UK are easily able to mould sets to suit any crowd- whether it be for a calm, entertaining atmosphere, or alternatively a mind-blowing rock party night.
As well as playing their own stuff, X-ell's sets include well-known cover songs by artists such as:
Kaiser Chiefs, Lost Prophets, Bon Jovi, Beastie Boys, Bryan Adams, Aerosmith, The Beatles, Train, AC/DC, Blink 182, Run DMC, Jet, The Kinks, Green Day, Goo Goo Dolls, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Stereophonics, Oasis, T-Rex and many more...
