About Me

Ahem, in my best 3rd person voice.....1adam12 is known to create in the key of Z. Poetry with props. Din with some verbal travail. Born in Bergen County NJ, 1adam12 had lived in Upstate NY, The greater Metropolitan area of NYC, St Thomas USVI, and on a large Schooner sailing the USVI/BVI's, Annapolis Md, and Atlantic City NJ. "Nomadic divorced parents and an uncontrollable wanderlust since birth will do that" he had once stated...To compensate for the relatively chaotic childhood...the concept and practice of "air guitar" propelled this young person to put off learning the actual subjective logistics of the guitar until age 20. According to an early 80's Nick Kent article, 1Adam12 reported to him that: "Dominoes lined up, Urgh a Music War came on TV...I memorized and analyzed all those bands and then my obsessive record buying began.... I'll have to say that those band family trees became biblical to me". A 70's Fender bass was bestowed upon Adam in the summer of 85' by longtime inspirational highschool pal, and future bandmate Pstek (now known to himself as the modern Alexander Calder of Wire Art). Adam could not sing anything apart from anchoring lines, so the bass was eventually abandoned for the guitar. Later, punk rock/hardcore and some quasi post proto punk (QPPP) figuratively split his head open. In 1986 The quirky 3 member pop band NOisE MuSeum began shortly thereafter with a 5 chord knowledge, and later evolved into the twin guitar drive and 7 chord knowledge of the Oxygen Tent. O2 disbanded in 2000.....Since then, 1adam12 has contributed to a host of recording/engineering projects as well as gigging out in a number of capacities with: Jumpship, Malcolm Tent, an obscure Monkees cover band "The Drunkees", The Enemies of the Secret Hide-out, The Feelies-esque/Glenn Mercer Project. 2008 has yielded membership in the new exciting musical outfit "Qatsi". He has been in some noteworthy live and recording situations...He could name drop a little, but that has become rather boring....If you get a talkin' to 1a12 you will find that he has at least a few degrees seperation to something of interest.....guaranteed, or your $ back. All comes into play when 1a12 pulls into formation. Despite an unpredictable vocabulary, this relatively un-well read red man, has been managing to pump out a significant catalogue of material, he generally regards 40% of it unlistenable. The remaining 60% he finds to be substantial to himself in some regard, which keeps him going.

Influences: LIFE...YOU...Koyaanasqatsi....getting around, my Job in child protection, Certainly able to admit that I am able to be influenced by all my senses have taken in...All comes into play...For better or for worse, I can be a bit of a maverick with regards to subject matter/structure etc.Partial to: The Kinks, The Beatles. Robert Pirsig (Author Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintanence/Lila...obscure things: The Rain Parade, The Monochrome Set, Ogden Nash etc....The Beatles? Yeah, Listen to the chord changes in "Things we said today" or the riff in "If I Needed Someone or "And your bird can sing"...and as for lyrics?/social commentary etc=awe=Ray Davies. "IF its' in you" by Syd Barrett was a pretty big influence, the fact one could build a gigantic sweeping melody around 1 chord. The tone of the guitar in "Midnight Man" by the James Gang or "Own up" by the Small Faces. The charisma of Jonathan Richman. The imagery/arrangements of Split Enz/Echo and the Bunnymen/Furs.... Mike Campbells' (TomPetty) taste-full-ness. Chilton, and Bruce Merkle to keep things in perspective....Verlaine and Television? Listen to "Ain't that Nothin'" and tell me you don't see the light....Helping out Playing the rhythm guitar in Glenn Mercers' new band with most of The Feelies floats my boat......I purposefully do not have Bob Dylan records because of serendipity, Conversely but similarly, Weird Al for that matter too...Actors: Peter Sellers, Johnny Depp. Leslie Caron. Russ Meyer. James Spader, William Dafoe, Obviously the great writers that have supported them...I hold Plato and the Muppets in the same regard.... I have profound regard for the champions of the underdogs, the promoters who give folks the chance to foist their survival catharsis...There's so much music I am into, the associations only make sense to me...Look at some of my Friends/bands here, I probably have a record by something they cite..... Always on the search for the other kid around the block...who is synthesizing as we speak...Looking forward and generally open to having my mind blown again...Right now, according to the satellite skycam, 1a12 is said to be continuing work on the forthcoming record in his highly customized blue igloo....The Governments' high powered condenser mic has picked up him listening to: The initial Qatsi practice recordings. The Plymouth Satellite camera has picked him up looking at Youtube and fondly remembering: THe Monochrome Set and Bid's utter genius, now there's a rock star!
Sounds Like: Someone said the sound is like Ray Davies/Neil Young? I happen to think the sound is like the molecules moving and hitting eachother right smack in the middle between Rockwell and Pollack's handshake....with a twist of Iroquois and some Abruzzi, my heritage...hope that tells you where my head is at. I truly love good songs, and tend to shy away from cliche and passe compositions...unless I'm just so taken, which happens occasionally.
