- Get Your Own
On Saturday June 23, 2007 I flew into San Antonio for my summer vacation with my family. My sister knew that I had been wanting to get a purple Cross Canadian Ragweed tattoo so she took me off to San Marcos that night. The guy that I wanted to go to was already gone for the night, so since I was in "tattoo mode" she took me up the street to a place called Mystic Marks. A guy named Christopher, or "pher" as they called him did it for me. He kept telling me the whole time that it was gonna be bad ass when he was done....HE WAS RIGHT.....IT IS BAD ASS!!! It hurt like hell, but it was well worth the pain. Everyone has been asking me if I cried. Crying was the furthest thing from my mind, I guess because I wanted this so bad! There are a few pics of the new tattoo in my pics...check it out!OK...so I go back to work work, Monday July 9 after 2 weeks vacation. I noticed a lot of whispering going on, but I didn't know what was up. When my boss came in she huddled everyone up behind my desk (I am the teller supervisor at a bank). She said that she had issues with my tattoo and needed to address this with everyone. I was thinking...oh my god...surely there isn't a policy here against tattoos?? So I just asked...."are you going to fire me for getting a tattoo?" She said, " we need to talk about this, but first we need to show you something." Everyone lifted their pantleg up and I about fell out of my chair laughing! They had taken the CCR sticker that I had on a picture at my desk and photocopied it. Everyone colored theirs in and taped it to their leg! What a way to be welcomed back to work! CCR ROCKS!!!I am a HUGE Cross Canadian Ragweed Fan! In fact, I call myself their biggest fan in Illinois! I have lost count of how many times I have them in concert in the past 3 years! 10 of those times have been in the last 9 months!!! On 12/13/06 I went to see them in Columbia, MO....a 4 hour road trip! Brian let us in for the sound check and I got to talk to Cody, Grady, Randy & Jeremy afterwards!!! I also saw Cross Canadian Ragweed 11/05/06 at The City Hall in Nashville, TN. Stoney LaRue, The Randy Rogers Band, Wade Bowen & Leanne Womack were also there so it was quite a show! I even saw Randy Rogers at the same hotel as me after the show! I got to see them yet again in St. Louis on 1/25/07! There was a big mix up with my meet and greet pass, but Cody and the guys always take care of their fans and I got in! I got to see them with Dierks Bentley right here in Carbondale on 2/3/07. I knew they would come back here one day! They were here 11/1/04 the last time! I had requested that Cody sing "Lonely Girl" for me(my most favorite CCR song of all!!), and when he sang it he pointed his finger at me and winked! I got to talk to Cody & Shannon after the show, they invited me on the tour bus! Brian was nice enough to find them for me, so thanks again Brian! I got to see them in Ausitn, TX .. CCR finished playing and REK was on, this security guard came over and tapped on my shoulder and told me to come with him. I thought I was in trouble or something because he had just escorted 2 girls behind me out for smoking weed. I asked him why and he pointed to this guy that was part of CCR's crew. I went over to him and he gives me this pass from Shannon to go up on the back part of the stage and stand with her and some of the other family memebers of the band and crew. So I got to hang out with her while REK was .. the show she invited me on the bus again!! My Cross Canadian Ragweed experiences just keep getting better, and better, and better.......On June 1 & 2,2007 I took a road trip to Harrodsburg, KY and Bloomington, IN. CCR was at my hotel in Harrodsburg when I checked in. I didn't see Cody, but got to talk to Grady, Randy & Jeremy for a while. I met Jerry & Jennifer at the show that night. Jane found me there, and I also met Tammy. After the show Cody invited me to party with them on the bus and I was there with them until 3:30 a.m.! I am not usually a beer drinker, but I drank my fair share that night! Talk about a hangover the next day! Since it was just 3 days after my birthday, I call it my late birthday celebration! I met up with Catrina the next day and we went to the Bloomington concert. Met Ash and Nakesha that night! It was a blast! She let me crash at her place, so that was cool. Then, the next weekend I was off to Owensboro, KY. 3 Ragweed shows in 8 days, what more could a girl ask for! I met Catrina there and we met up with Lori and Jackie and Lindsey and her friend there in Ownesboro. I have met so many new friends from the Cross Canadian Ragweed website and here on myspace! While in TX I saw Cody and Stoney acoustic at Cheatham Street on June 27 . That was awesome! Got to meet Chris and his sister that night! Then on July 18 my daughter Jade and I went to Louisville, KY. So many of my Ragweed friends were there, too many to list here! You can see them all in my pics! Let me share with you how I got hooked on their music. My sister lives in Seguin, Texas and in the summer of 2004 we took a road trip to South Padre Island. On the way down there her 2 1/2 year old son Joey kept saying, "Mama play the Carney Man song." I had no idea what he was talking about, so she put in the Cross Canadian Ragweed Carney CD for me to hear. I was instantly hooked on their music! When we got back to Seguin I went to Hastings and bought every CD up through Purple. I later found Soul Gravy and I immediately fell in love with "Lonely Girl" and that has been my favorite song ever since! I thank my sister every day for turning me on to their music! I am pretty much a fan of all Texas Red Dirt bands now! Some of the bands that I have heard along the way with Cross Canadian Ragweed are Dierks Bentley, The Randy Rogers Band, Stoney LaRue, Mickey & The Motorcars, Wade Bowen, Eli Young Band, Reckless Kelley, Hayes Carll, Todd Snider, Robert Earl Keen, Honeybrowne & Pauline Reese. Cross Canadian Ragweed rocks!! You've gotta check them out.....Smells like country..Tastes like rock~n~roll! Did someone say Ragweed Road Trip???? Count me in!!!I haven't added to this since July '07....wow am I ever behind! Been lots of road trips and lots of good times with the band and crew and my friends. Those of you who know me well have heard all my stories! See ya'll down the road one day soon!Check out these videos of "Lonely Girl" below....In the first one my friend Lori puts her camera on me singing but it is too dark. You can hear her say my name though......Cross Canadian Ragweed
