James Dean Rose Junior & his friends

How you doing?

About Me

Sometimes performing under the clever auspices of J.R. and the Juniors. James Dean Rose Jr. is a multi-instrumentalist who is usually accompanied by friends. You might see him playing guitar, banjo, dobro or mandolin while performing his material. He also plays upright bass with Kansas based acts Lance Fahy and Midnite Supper. He is a Cancer and wears way too much blue sometimes.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: one day maybe
Band Members: His friends/ pseudo band mates include David Barnhill (mando and whistles), Chris DeVictor and Hank Osternout (upright bass though not at the same time), Jason Meier (Washboard), Spencer Goertz-Giffen & Alex Fetterman (pretty girly harmonies and guitar), Peter Oviatt (banjo). Special thanks to Josephine Michenor, Andy Gingrich, Lily Mason, Eric McCann, Jennifer "violinifer" Bryant, Max Paley and J.B. King for playing many shows and/or recording with me.
Influences: The Bobs (Marley & Dylan), Ramones, Flatt and Scruggs, Little Richard, Split lip rayfield, Louis Armstrong, Lucinda Williams, The Proclaimers, Buena vista social club, The Cranberries, Old and in the way, the Pogues, Nina Simone singing 'Mississippi Goddamn', Bowie from Ziggy Stardust to the goblin king, "You remind me of the babe"; you know what I'm talking about. This list could go on all day.
Sounds Like: Lawrence's JR & the Juniors fired up in 2005 to play a show for free pizza and beer. The twangy outfit has since become a staple of the Mass. St. tour circuit, spreading good cheer with a Blue Mountain mashup of country, bluegrass, folk, blues and jug band music. The current lineup ... is often accompanied by guests on jaw harp, fiddle and boozy vocals. You might even hear a "Wizard of Oz" tune or two...-Lawrence.comGet your own free cool template at getgreatcodes.com
