Cliffside

For those who dont know, our great friend and brother Mike Mihalik was taken away from us far before his time in a shooting at the Cliffside, three others were injured as well before disarming the gunmen(James Jones). Mike was a great friend to all of us who knew him, his last words and thought were of others, asking if everyone else was ok. This is the kind of person Mike was and is to all who knew him. Mike has touched all of our lives making us better people just by knowing him, he will be greatly missed and remain in our hearts until we one day meet him again. MihalikMichael Glenn Mihalik, 26, of Charles Town, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.He was born Jan. 10, 1980, in Salisbury, Md., to Edward Glenn Mihalik, of Shepherdstown, and Rita Quillen Mihalik, of Harpers Ferry.He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of Harpers Ferry.He was a 1998 graduate of Jefferson High School. He worked as a carpenter and bartender and was an environmental studies major at Shepherd University, specializing in historical preservation.He was a lifelong Boy Scout with a love for the outdoors, particularly animals, a fond favor for West Virginia and a strong will for helping others. He lived his life as he felt Jesus would have lived, and would have had him also to live.In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Michelle Mihalik, and her husband Keith Montgomery, of Kearneysville; his brother, Matthew Glenn Mihalik, of Charles Town; his love and companion, Ashley Morris, of Charles Town; two stepsisters, Rhianna Kegal, of Hawaii, and Carrie Kegal, of Shepherdstown; paternal grandfather, Edward Mihalik, of Charlotte Hall, Md.; maternal grandmother, Lillian Quillen, of Salisbury, Md.; several aunts, uncles and cousins.He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Grace Mihalik, and his maternal grandfather, Oliver Quillen..................................................... ............................................................ ..............Cliffside Tavern located at the Quality Inn off Rt340 in Harpers Ferry, has for many years been a venue for local and regional music acts, ranging from folk and country to metal and hardcore.
