Bay of Pigs' sound is best described as a raw, emotional and eclectic mix of funky, alternative metal styles, blended together with blazing poetic rap and an often light hearted, entertaining approach to heavy, serious, ANGRY political rock.
We formed out of jamming sessions between vocalist Dan and guitarist Rhydian in September 2005, but thanks to our unconventional musical outlook and confrontational political message we were never really able to keep a steady lineup. The closest we came was in 2007 when bassist Dan completed the band but following a few gigs in the summer musical, political and personal differences started to emerge, which resulted in the loss of our drummer, Rhys.
Since then nothing much has happened. A demo was in the works but much of the recorded material was unusable for one reason or another. Some stuff may emerge in the future but don't hold your breath. The three remaining members have more or less gone their separate ways and Bay of Pigs can now be considered defunkt.
defunkt /di'funkt/ adj. 1. used up, broken, a spent force. 2. lacking in funk.
Bay of Pigs caused ripples of controversy and debate in every venue we played. Sometimes we would hand out flyers or lead into our songs with rabble-rousing rants about the state of freedom, justice, peace and civil liberties in this brave new world. You can read our manifesto below:
