A late summer evening in the year of 1996, Drakon and Silvan are rehearsing with their former band, AWAKE. Through the door and up the stairs, comes Devlish, to kill some time.They talk some chit-chat until Silvan decides to pick up his guitar ; a fabulous riff comes forth. The walls start to rumble and the prophecies of doom are close to becoming true , Drakon releases the pressure with his vocal chords. Devlish , shocked by their outstanding performance , looks at them and sais : "Guys , I think we've got something here!" He throws himself behind AWAKE's drumkit , only to find that a few hours later, their first finished song "ANCIENT OUTRAGE" was an actual fact!They agree to meet several times, and more songs come to life ; "POINT OF NO FURTHER" , "CHILDREN OF DAMNATION" , "SOURCE OF SACRIFICE" , amongst others. But all of this is happening behind the backs of the other AWAKE members, which of course leads to the break-up of the mentioned band. Drakon , Silvan and Devlish take over the rehearsal room and continue as before.Unfortunaly , a few months later , Devlish was drafted in the military . It became a quiet time for the three of them , but Drakon and Silvan stuck together , as they have done since childhood. Devlish returns from the military and they rejoin again in the summer of '97 , with only two guitars , drums and a vocal.At later rehearsals , they experience suspicous visits from a former class-mate of Drakon and Silvan, Wizziac. It was to show that his former band , SAGE , had broken up , and that he saw his chance to fill the badly - needed bassist part in the potential band. At first Devlish was very sceptical , since Wizziac only had vocal experience from the former band , but after some time , he was convinced by the other two. In December '97 ,Wizziac showed up with his bassguitar . This was to be a very good investment for the band .It's now things start to happen! After alot of speculating about a band name , ETERNAL SILENCE was suggested by Drakon and they decided on that .The band name ETERNAL SILENCE was a fact! A month later , January '98 , Anastaziah came into the picture . She was a class-mate of Silvan at the music- course at college , so they experimented with synthesizer and soprano vocals. It was to show , because of various reasons, that it was impractical for her to work with both synth and soprano vocals , but it was quickly decided by ETERNAL SILENCE , that they wanted both. The next month , Febuary '98 , Devlish' girlfriend , Naomi , offers to have a go on the synthesizer. It couldn't hurt to try , so it was done .Naomi found her place , and with both her and Anastaziah aboard , it was to show that ETERNAL SILENCE ' female investments were gold-worth. The band was complete and now contained Drakon , Silvan , Wizziac , Devlish , Naomi and Anastaziah.The time that came went to rehearsal , both as a band and development of individual technics . New songs saw the light of day. The summer came , and two years after Drakon's and Silvan's first musical meeting with Devlish , ETERNAL SILENCE had their first public performance. This took place in June '98 at a local Metal - consert for amateur bands in Sørvik , outside of Harstad. The whole performance went fine . But among all the other bands , ETERNAL SILENCE was neither boo'ed of the stage or cheered back on again.But then ! At the next rehearsel , a little disappointed over their effort and response from the audience at the Metal - consert , things start to bubble at the ETERNAL SILENCE camp. There's discussion and agreement ; ETERNAL SILENCE had to create music with more power than what the band had done before .As a result , the song "FROM BEYOND TIME" was born. A new era and time for ETERNAL SILENCE . More songs along the same path took shape; "VISIONS OF DISHARMONY" , "INVOCATION " , and more.At this point , there was also experiments with a third vocal , performed by Wizziac. This vocal became a permanent vocal and ETERNAL SILENCE had everything they needed to create whatever they wanted.There was discussion of a demo- recording , so the band started to prepare. In the meanwhile , they had to create a few more songs. It was to be a full-length demo with an eight-page coverbooklet to present to possible record companies and booking agencies. Time went by , when in Febuary '99 , ETERNAL SILENCE participated at a Metal-consert for amateur bands in Harstad. Three bands performed and ETERNAL SILENCE got an enormous response from the audience.The following month , March ' 99 , was the time for the annual Metal-consert for amatuers in Sørvik , outside of Harstad. Ten bands were present , and spite of technical failure which reduced the performance ( 3 1.. 2 songs) , ETERNAL SILENCE made a strong impression on the audience and became the favorite.A few months go by , the songs are polished up , new songs are made , the studio booked , the booklet planed out and the full image falls into place. ETERNAL SILENCE enters the studio in July '99 , and a new chapter in the bands development begins.
