Aaron McLendon

About Me

Originally from Southern California, drummer Aaron McLendon has quickly become a prominent voice in his generation. His diverse influences range from Jazz to West African Music, and from hip-hop to modern rock.

Upon receiving his Graduate Degree from California Institute of the Arts, Aaron moved to Los Angeles, where he performed with and/or recorded with Angelo Moore (of Fishbone), funk icon George Clinton, trumpeter Christian Scott (Concord Records), Candyman 187, bassist Miles Mosley, and singer Raya Yarborough (Telarc Records).
In 2007, McLendon toured the world with jazz piano phenoms, Eldar Djangirov (Sony Records) and Taylor Eigsti (Concord Records). Countries visited include Japan, Argentina, Brazil, Switzerland, France, England, Spain, Germany, Poland, and Turkey. He is also featured on Eigsti’s critically acclaimed record, "Let It Come To You" (2008 Concord).
In 2008, Aaron performed extensively with Academy Award–nominated actor/singer/songwriter Terrence Howard (Columbia Records), and can be heard throughout his debut album, "Shine Through It" (2008 Sony/BMG).
Current projects include Taylor Eigsti’s ‘Free Agency’ (with Gretchen Parlato, Becca Stevens, Gerald Clayton, and Harish Raghavan), the improv oriented ‘Notorious LA Music Scene’ (based in Brooklyn), a hip-hop, song-writing duo with bassist Kevin Farrell, as well as a regular freelancing schedule with the finest names in music today.
Aaron presently lives, performs, composes, and teaches music in New York City.-
