The last album 'Melody's True':
CD Baby , Not Lame Records or iTunes
The latest album was recorded mostly by one person. Discouraged by previous experiences being in bands and limited by only two hands, I chose to find a creative solution for live shows. With a budget of only $9 and a borrowed old DVR camcorder, I filmed and edited these ten videos myself to spice things up. During live shows the videos are run by computer via projector onto a screen for all to see. Instruments heard such as drums and bass are the tracks I recorded which are played back via computer. The guitar and vocals are muted (not played back) so I can perform them live instead. Together these elements (video, audio playback, and me) are combined on stage and this whole elaborate setup has been dubbed "Stuart Valentine: The Director's Cut".
These videos are full recorded versions (including studio vocals and guitar) of the songs as available on the CD . Live versions of the videos (lacking vocals and guitar) will not be not posted.

Hi. A bit about me, casually speaking. I like pop music and I like melody. Hold on, most people don't define "pop" quite like I do. I have this theory about the Continuum of Pop Music, which if you ever meet me, I can explain to you. I have a lot of ideas. I'm not much of a stereotypical musician - for better or for worse I'm still not sure.
I've been many bands in different roles - you may have heard of a couple of them - but I just want to work on my own ideas now and make good songs for you to listen to. I have a new collection which I call "Summer's Winter Day" which is a follow up to my debut "Melody's True". I could go on, but I think people tend to think and talk about themselves too much. I think I tend to think too much, period.
Anyhow hope you enjoy the record, tell me what your fave song is and maybe I'll make more like it. Have a good evening...thanks for dropping by.

Band Members: Stuart Valentine plays guitar and drums and sings and plays some keys and bass too. Additional tracks graciously added by Joe Patterson or Nathan Junior or Robert Madore on occasion.
Influences: Scientifically speaking, sound is the vibration that moves from one place to another over a medium - so by definition music is about communication and travel. It is created to be shared. Therefore, when the vibration from me meets you I want it to mean something to you. These are the kinds of thoughts that influence me.

If you mean "What do I listen to?", well then yay for these bands, and probably much more, listed in no particular order: Zombies, The Supremes, Jesus and Mary Chain, New Order, Beach Boys, Beatles, Stones, David Bowie, Fountains of Wayne, Weezer, Guided by Voices, Verve, Oasis, Pulp, Velvet Underground, Bob Dylan, The Byrds, The Doors, REM, James Brown, Otis Redding, Tom Petty, The Cars, The Kinks, The Raveonettes, Creeper Lagoon, Kent, The Cardigans, Dead Meadow, Dandy Jonestown Massacre, Danger Mouse, The Streets, Small Faces, Creedence, The Smiths, Joy Division, Outkast, Carole King, Al Green, White Stripes, De La Soul, My Bloody Valentine, Nick Drake, Radiohead, Afghan Whigs, The La's, The Ramones, U2, The KLF, Stone Roses, Manic Street Preachers, BRMC, The Cure, Galaxie 500, Spiritualized + Spacemen 3, Uncle Tupelo, Ride, The Libertines and a little bit of Teenage Fanclub.
Sounds Like: I really don't know what to say when people ask this question, especially when you can click a link and listen to a song right now. Here are some reviews:

"I Heard You Twice the First Time - is as instantly likable a pop song as I've heard in ages." - Willamette Week

"Melody's True is straight-up indie pop, and Valentine has a confident touch with memorable melody lines." "...a coherent album of quality songcraft. It's impossible not to hum along with such upbeat toe-tappers..." - Skyscraper Number 20

"A wonderful collection of breezy rock...the only complaint is that he didn't make a solo album sooner." & 4 stars - All Music Guide

"...with his pleasant voice, knack for a tickling melody and songwriting talent Valentine has made one of the underdog records ! of the year." & Top 10 Pick - Dagger

show vs. a television (yes its real)

Yes, this is really going to happen. I decided I would make a cultural statement in the form of some kind of surreal competition rather than do a tired record release show. People may be wondering w...
