Hey people...

About Me

So who is this James guy anyhow? Well... I was born in Berlin, Germany, was raised in L.A., lived in the SF bay area from college until 2002, moved to NYC for almost 3 years, back to LA, then back to NYC!
I enjoy playing the guitar and songwriting, reading various types of books (especially asian-am lit, classics, biographies), and snowboarding. I also love the outdoors, and I love photography. I like going out and trying different types of food, but I most enjoy cooking at home. My favorite foods are Korean, Japanese, and Thai... and grilling anything that used to moo or cluck.
Work... My last job was as a software developer at a bank in Manhattan, but my dream job is to be a writer. I'm working on it... all the time. Of course everyone wants to be a rock star, but that takes a bit of luck. I did open mics at the Starry Plough in Berkeley, as well as in NYC on the upper east side every so often (wed nights!) and in the village. I went back to LA, went through a business venture, and then back in the corporate world working for The Man, busy as usual! I missed NYC and moved back in 2007. =P
I have a dog; Jack Russell Terrier named Frasier. He's CRAZY, but a good dog.
I most love hanging out with good friends, and playing host. My favorite towns have got to be Berkeley (many many fond memories there) and NYC (many many fuzzy memories there).
Sports: I love the Raiders, the Dodgers, and the Spurs. I also love my alma mater (Cal). I'm die-hard for all.
I am not too picky when it comes to people that I hang out with. I am very open-minded when it comes to relationships. I hang out with all sorts of people and really enjoy meeting new people all the time.
Hmm... I like my eggs over-easy and my comfort food is either kimchi jjiggae or a salami sandwich on a hero roll with provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, spicy mustard, gobs of mayo, red onion, oil, vinegar... with a crisp juicy pickle on the side. And I will take fries with that... along with ketchup mixed with tabasco.

My Interests

snowboarding, guitar, dogs, outdoors, photography, concert-going, trying out new restaurants, taking risks, pretty much anything new

I'd like to meet:

A friend recently asked me what I would put in a personal ad. I've never thought about or ever looked through any. Maybe the closest thing I've ever done to that was look at the Missed Connections section of craigslist. It's kept me entertained during downtime at work. I think that some of those entries are pretty sweet, if you ask me, and the ones in dense major metropolitan areas are all the more romantic. Something about subway encounters and such... it's like having a 15-minute romance every day. The subway is one of those great equalizers in life. Uptown girls meeting downtown guys... The mayor standing with the homeless... But I digress.
So, even though some of my friends say my blog is a personal ad in and of itself, here is what my personal ad would be:
SAM iso SAFDown-to-earth guy. Loves being out and trying new things all the time, but am a homebody at heart. I enjoy trying new restaurants but love to cook. I'll probably get you hooked on what I'm into, but I'll get into your thing if you teach me. I've been told I'm metro, but I'm not a wimp. I live for natural highs. I love the mountains, the beach, city life, live music, and good conversation on a good drive or over great food. I'll try anything once. I have a Christian background but am pretty damn liberal. HA!

Seeking down-to-earth girl in her late 20's to very early 30's. Intelligent, adventurous, stylish, very open-minded, and can listen to Tupac, Nirvana, Mary J. Blige, and The Killers back to back to back. Must be independent but let me spoil her. Has a passion in her life and knows the last book she read. Kindheartedness an absolute must. No girls who constantly test guys. Preferably Korean. Must love dogs. Dorkiness, pseudo-antiestablishmentarianism, and snowboarders a plus!

I'm not serious, OK? I wrote this in like 5 minutes. Though I will gladly entertain responses... =P

I know what you Koreans are thinking... No girls who like to test guys. Preferably Korean??? I know, I know... Well, here's to hoping... LOL *cheers*

Lastly, I leave you with an old Calvin & Hobbes, one of my favs... in this one, it might as well be called James & Hobbes.

Selfish Shame
