THE ANNOUNCED (DOVER, OH THIS SATURDAY!)

The Announced is a four-piece band from Mayfield, OH, a suburb of Cleveland, and it has undergone many changes since its inception in 2005. At that time, Mat McNamara, Alex Johnson, and Michael Capello formed the pop-punk band Knockout. After several performances, however, the band members decided that they wanted to change their sound. In an effort to take the band in a different direction, Mat and Mike started to work together to write an array of punk songs. Peter Hauptman joined them on bass, and the band TNT for 2 was born. After their first show, Alex Johnson rejoined the band as the bass player, and Peter Hauptman moved to guitar. The addition of a fourth member added depth to the band’s sound, and the members started writing more music with a heavier edge. Newly named “The Announced,” the young band is continuing to mature and the members are working to develop their music. Now with the band going into the studio to record, they hope to keep striving towards success. Over the next few months, the band has gone through member changes and sound changes. They strive to become heavier and experimental with the addition of a synthesizer. The band continues to grow with the printing of multiple designs of merchandise, touring as much as they can, and still playing with big national acts.
