I WALKED INTO AN ANIMAL SHELTER AND SAW FEAR IN THE EYES OF EVERY ANIMAL THERE. TOO EASILY DISPOSED WERE THESE LOYAL ANIMALS. ONCE PETS, NOW HOMELESS. I WAS ANGRY AND ASKED GOD, "WHY DON'T YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT?" FOR A MOMENT IT WAS QUIET AND AS I BROUGHT FRESH WATER AND A CARING HAND TO ONE OF THE DOGS I HEARD, " I DID DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, I MADE YOU." ~~ANONYMOUS~~
In January of 2007 I will be attending the National Animal Control Association Academy certification course... I am currently attending CTC to obtain my Associates Degree in Criminal Justice and will be seeking a position within the metro Atlanta area as an Animal Control Officer.
The beginning of my journey starts here...
I started researching euthanasia of animals in the metro Atlanta area and GA as a whole, some weeks back. That led me in the direction of what this page will be based.
FERAL CATS
What is a feral cat u ask? - A feral cat is a cat that has either never had contact with humans or a once domestic cat turned stray and reverted to a wild state.
Feral cats pose extremely minute risks to humans, unlike stray or "wild dogs", feral cats will run from humans unless cornered and fearing for their lives. You have seen these cats... hanging out at the dumpster behind restaraunts, in alleys downtown, in your apartment complex or neighborhood, basically anywhere they can find food and water to survive on. A lot of people consider these cats homeless... In my opinion, these cats are not homeless at all. They know where they will sleep at night. They know where they are going to go for food. They may not live the life that many people see as the "ideal" life for a cat, but nonetheless... They know where they consider home! If food and water become scarce, they will move along to somewhere else where life's neccessities are available. But, as long as a source of food and water is available, they will remain "at home."
My Immediate Goal is this - - To participate in the nationally recognized program called TNR... Trap, Neuter, and Return.
