About Me

Joe Ham (aka Joeham) a native New Yorker (Spanish Harlem) grew up listening to the blues, soul music and Latin/Salsa. Between that one visit to the famous Apollo Theater (located in the village of Harlem on 125th.st.) and hundreds of live summer (unscheduled, no permit granted) Latin and Soul Jam sessions until 3:00AM, he decided to become a drummer/percussionist.After a few self-taught drum lessons at home, he finally found a private drum teacher (Mr. Paris Wright, a very patient man). Eventually Paris was to busy with touring to continue teaching locally. Still with a passion to play music, after 5-6 months, Joeham eventually found a school in the neighborhood, The Manna House located at East 106 St. bet. 1st. & 2nd. Ave; It's founded and directed Ms. Gloria DeNard's son Kennard (Woody) DeNard a child prodigy 12 years of age at the time, was the drum instructor there. Still today Joeham and Woody are the best of friends ...Joe Ham's credits include touring, live performance and recording in the US and abroad.Sam and Dave, Dizzy Gillespie (Havana Cuba and various concerts); The Weather Girls, Gloria Gaynor, Martha Wash, Bobbi Humphrey, The Platters, Little Anthony & The Imperials, The Chiffons, The Marvelettes, Mary Wilson & The Surpremes, Me'lisa Morgan, Teddy Pendergrass, NGFOOT (Nine Guys From Out Of Town), The Big Apple Circus, New York Boys Choir, Boys Choir Of Harlem (Eastern European tour), Canaan Baptist Church Of ChristTelevision Recordings : Nickelodeon's Little Bill (Theme & Underscore) NBC's The Cosby Show (Drummer/Percussionist, Themes & Underscore); NBC's A Different World (Drummer/Percussionist, Themes & Underscore) NBC's Living Single (Drummer/Percussionist, Themes & Underscore)Plays: Little Ms. Riding Hood (Harlem Children's Theater) Mama I Want To Sing, Do Wop Love, A Brief History Of White Music
