Band Members:Me.
If you build it, they will come.
Influences: Where to begin? Nirvana got me started on the guitar. Then it was the Smasing pumpkins and the whole alternative scene including Pearl Jam, Rage against the machine etc... On to the Blues: Robbben Ford, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and of course Jimi Hendrix to be overly brief. Then on to Jazz: the Heath Bros, McCoy Tyner, Wes Motgomerey, Pat Metheney, Coltrane, Monk, Brad Mheldau, Chris Potter, Art Ensemble of Chicago, Pat Martino, Hank Jones, Emily Remler, the baddest female jazz guitarist ever, period! Oh, don't forget the Prince and the Revolution, Computer blue!
The players that I met at Berklee, and in the Gospel churches of Oakland have influenced me considerably. Such Berklee musicians include:Walter Smith III (tenor), Gary Burton (vibes), Tony Germain (Keys), Austin Marks (keys), Ray Montero (trumpet), John Shannon and the waking vision trio (guitar...), Lionel Loueke (guitar). The church players and general Oakland staff who have influenced me probably greater then anyone else, and who it is my privelige to call some of them my friends include: Vernon Hall, B'nai Rebelfront, Mike Aauberg, Mike Dinkins, Ashkon Davaran, Eric and John 'Jubu' Smith (the baddest two brothers ever), Carl Wheeler, Carl Warren, Errol Cooney, Valentino Salgado Pizzereli, Steve and Collin Hogan, Destiny Wolf and Thomas Prigeon. These players briefly represent the "Town- Sound" comin' from tha' O. They are what I consider to be the continuation of the Oakland musical legacy, and they are all Oakland 'royalty' to me
These players all have something very special about their sound and personalities and it is, again, my privelige to consider myself amongst their ranks, humbly. Nowadays, you might catch me bumpin' any one of these players knock, or listening to ancient Indian, or Bulgarian arrangenments, or rollin' down the street, bumpin' Zack Mack!!!!!
Sounds Like: Me, and anyone else that you feel the need to associate me with; If that will help you to listen.
