I am here for Friends

About Me

This is not about me. This is about God. He gave me this life. And it is his to take away. I only have stewardship of this life for a little while. And I want to use it on behalf of the one who gave me this generous gift.

The next thing I need to say, since it is the one thing that gets missed most often, is that I am not here for dating or serious relationships. I am here for friendship and fellowship.

Just because I'm a religious person doesn't mean I'm going to thump the Bible or be judgmental. Those kinds of things don't work because they intimidate or bore people. And knowing scripture chapter and verse doesn't make anyone a better person. If it does, then the Pharisees had it right.

I believe in covenant theology, to which my brief description is that God keeps his promises, even if we break ours. I'm not a fundamentalist. I'm not a dispensationalist. There are plenty of people who claim to be religious while they are only using religion as a means to achieve power. I don't believe there is truly such a thing as a holy war on this Earth.

I know quite a bit about the pre-millenialists, post-millenialists, and millenialists. I'm a pan-millenialist. I trust God that it will all work out in the end.
This may be a strong view for some, but as a Christian, I cannot truly be an American. A man cannot serve two masters. The early Christians, no matter where they were, saw themselves as foreign nationals wherever they lived. Their kingdom was not of this Earth. If America and God differ, I choose God.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Unconvinced pre-Christians.

There are two kinds of people. Christians, and unconvinced pre-Christians. The only question for the unconvinced is whether they will learn the truth in this life or the next. Those who go to the grave as doubters and disbelievers will find that its too late to change their minds when they're dead.

My profession involves a great deal of travel. I visit missions and mission churches around the Pacific rim and conduct needs assessments, and then report back to people who have the skills, contacts, or resources to help these fledgling churches survive and thrive. I typically travel 35 to 40 weeks out of a year. One month I will make visits in South America. The next month I will go to South Korea and China and some Pacific island nations. The following month, it will be places like Thailand and Viet Nam. And then back to Central and South America. It can be grueling at times. And humiliating at times. And dangerous at times. And very rewarding. (And I don't mean because of the frequent flier mileage).

What Are Souls?

For a long time, I have been dissatisfied with the explanations I've heard about what souls are. Our spiritual essence. The eternal part of us that exists in a non-material realm. The enigmatic force ...

God and government

One of the things that bothers me is the notion of America as a Christian nation.  This is in part because I believe there is only one Christian nation, it is a kingdom, and it is not of this wor...
