MyGen Profile GeneratorMea CulpaThe Mea Culpa project started back in October 2005 with x Sma5h tv bass boy Steve Baker (Steve Sma5h) and singer songwriter Issy Charrot, who had just got back from working in the States on her new musical. The recording process started with the creation of all the songs being formed in a studio setting, the different styles that both had to offer worked well from the start creating a textural and filmic ambience, with dark distorted bass lines dirty synths and sub droning drum loops. Then the skills of drummer Jake Grinsdale who had been working in the States on onother project were added to the full sound of Mea Culpa . The end of May 2006 their first album HIBISCUS had been completed with the EP ON THE FLOOR at the same time,the EP containing dance mixs of the album and some new tracks. By July 2006 the live band were on the road with the help of Matt Glen bass synths and keys, and Matt Wilshaw piano and keys. Steve and Matt Whilshaw had worked on past projects i.e. Urban Zen Corporation, and Meta Tekki, and other studio projects.
